Forums - Politics Discussion - Prosecutors in UK fighting to bring as much as life sentence to acid attackers

Should be minimum life sentence and eye for an eye.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I did look earlier but didn't edit my post. To be fair I also read half the article and watched the biket video but I just wanted to make sure. This is fucking disgusting.

So does that mean ugly people go through hell?

No, and I'll explain why.

I'm not an attractive man, and it's something that'll probably stay (or improve a bit when as my beard grows). The difference however is that I don't care. I have two ears, two eyes, a mouth, a nose, and hair on my head. I can live with people calling me ugly as it's simply a result of a bunch of random choices. It means little to me. I'm healthy, dress properly, and generally look fine.

On the other hand, these people's 'ugly' features are from an attack they'll never forget. As long as they look in the mirror, they'll have to remember that an asshole threw acid at them. When they get looks and chuckles in public, they'll have to remember the acid attack. It's extremely damaging to these people to still deal with the pain even after the physical portion of it is completed.

At the end of the day, I can look at a mirror and shrug it off. They can't shrug off an acid attack.

It really depends on the person, some people can't shrug off being ugly no matter what. I was just asking though because it made me think that this is the only time I've seen people be sympathetic towards someones look. I definitely feel sympathy for people attacked with acid.

We have had the same problem in Italy for many years now, and even though law doesn't make provision for life sentence, and penalties always take into account the seriousness of injuries (but also, to a lesser degree, the seriousness of injuries the attack could have caused if successful), tribunals apply every aggravating factor, penalties are summed up and despite the maximum penalty for a single offence with serious permanent damage is twelve years, the most ruthless offenders ended up being sentenced to more than twenty years, plus many years of mandatory psychiatric and social rehab after release.

Seems fine to me. I would have personally set a mandatory death penalty in there for anyone who throws acid at a child younger than 10, though.

age shouldnt be a issue.... haveing to go through life possibly blind, with a disfigured face... sucks for anyone.

This is so vile... lifetime sentencies seems fine to me.

Its akin to tortureing someone, and cutting parts of their bodies off.

Not all life is equal; a child's life is worth far more than an adult's. Throwing acid in an adult's face, while deplorable and worthy of some pretty intense punishment, is not as bad as doing the same thing to a five year old girl.

Honestly a small child might adapt easier, and learn quicker how to deal with it. They might learn to fit into society.

The chances of a grownup doing so.... are less likely (if they go blind).

Your probably a father or mother, and feel that way.

However both acts are equally horrible, there is no excuse for this sort of thing.

I sort of get the sentimate though,.... if someone has to get it tossed in the face, its better its a old man/woman, than a kid.

Ideally this wouldnt ever happend.

Its a vile act, if your trying to blind someone with acid, or melt away skin on the face.

Going through life, without a nose, missing ears, blind, bald, badly scared ect...  I cant understand why anyone would do such to another human.

as I said, I view this as torture, and cutting off body peices.

If someone throws acid in another persons face, and they blind them, or melt away ears/noses.... its just as bad as someone takeing a knife to a person and cutting off things.

They should get lifetime sentences for it.

They should get life. People throwing acid on people is basically attempted murder

Such a fucked up thing to do. Life sentence or death sentence sounds good to me.
