Well, Sochi is pretty warm, and Georgia isn't too far away from there

Really? Weren't the winter Olympics at Sochi? Surely it must be pretty cold for that, no?

Yeah they were, but Sochi is warmer than what most people think of when Russia comes to mind.

What was your original account?

It was just "fazz", I discovered this site thanks to another shoddy site called "Nexgenwars", so I started lurking for some time until I made an account in 2007.

I remember Nexgenwars! It was the first console sales website I was ever introduced to ... I think people used to use their linked infographics for forum sigs in other gaming sites, iirc. Pretty sure they just used bulk historical data to make a super-crude time-based estimate of sales, is all.

That's exactly what they did back in the day. It was a pretty shit website haha.

It has been worse. Brett has lost interest in this site a few years ago. He used to update charts quickly and on a regular schedule, he participated in the forums as well. Some years ago he tried to get new site off the ground (Gamewise) and then chart updates on VGC began to lag behind and it got increasingly worse. That was basically the lowest point for the site, but things improved when he allowed Machina and Trunks limited access to chart updates. Said limited access still requires that Brett does certain things (currently adjustments to old sales are necessary), but such requests take time until they are fulfilled because Brett only has a low interest in VGC left.

Supporters donate money to this website and receive a few perks in exchange. You can look up the information under the tabs Members/Supporter Program at the top of the page.

Seen that at the very start it was like Gamefaq gone wrong, how is that working out now? Don't even want to google it to risk raising it's popularity rank on that engine.

And yeah, there was a time when I would encourage other people to visit vgchartz as a forum which was great and also a good sales site, now the site is just basically the forums and the fact that it's called VGchartz doesn't really make much sense as a name... the chartz are effectively worthless with 2 month old data, I mean what... are we meant to still be discussing the first weeks of sales on how Mario Kart 8 deluxe are selling and in a few months time the forums can move on to talk about how Arms sells its first weeks? by the time the updates come for games they are already either clearly fan favourites or have been forgotten into obscurity. You really can't expect a forum to function and talk about chartz from 2 months ago as though they are relevant?

I would say PS4 happened... since there isn't a battle itself he lost interest in putting numbers... that is if Sony numbers are to be believed.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Its always been worse. When numbers are coming and everything is good that is not the norm and quite a surprise and a good time

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Yes, there's been plenty of times. I don't know what the big deal is. I come to shoot the shit with these asshats and not for the numbers. Numbers are good for the site because it attracts more people to the site but personally I don't really care.

We used to argue with each other using different colored text, without Multi-Quote and the biggest topic of the month (every month) was about if Forza or Gran Turismo was the real definitive racing game.

Dark times.

I'm guessing the site needs more revenue. It's hard to spend all your time working on a website AND hold down a full job AND manage your family/social life. I use to say this all the time when I had a popular web show. People would always bitch because I could only broadcast once a week and I'd always tell them that in order to do a daily show, I'd have to see more revenue coming from it.
