And 3DS reached 23 million...

That thing just won't die, in Japan...

Amazing! Should be close to outselling the PS2 then there and take it's place at the top 3 best selling consoles, 3DS should be able to achieve 25-26 million at least at this rate in Japan. Especially since Pokemon is still on the way.

Everyone talking about the Switch on the first page although this is the big Dragon Quest 11 release week. lol

Both Dragon Quest 11 versions did fantastic and combined they did 2.1M first week which is truly insane!!!

Hardware this week is great too, Dragon Quest 11 gave a huge boost to 3DS and PS4 hardware numbers!!!

It's because everyone thought Switch would be eclipsed by 3DS and PS4 since it's Dragon Quest week. But it didn't actually, it held fairly well. It's even more impressive than an expected DQ boost.

Right!

Very nice numbers for PS4, 3DS, Switch and Dragon Quest.
Dragon Quest still going very strong in Japan.

Its because no one expected Switch to hold that well after the Splatoon week, and given that this is DQ week(I think the correct thing to say is, nobody expected Nintendo to have shipped so much Switch units)

I don't know about hold. Who wouldn't expect a system that sells out every week, regardless of software releases, to not sell out the next week, if there are enough units available?
I think the surprising thing is more the shipments.

Until we see signs of Switch not selling out in Japan, I'm never going to assume that it will drop significantly the next week, unless it does so because of shipment constraints.

Yeah, thats why I put what you said in () in my post.

But honestly, Switch sales are the most impressive here.It managed to sell 90K.It dropped only 10% from last week!It will obviously go down through the weeks, since I dont believe that Nintendo managed to up the production that much, but it just goes on to prove that Nintendo did improve the production after all.

No, it show Nintendo keep a lot of consoles on stock for splatoon release.

Is it though?I mean, it could very well be, but that didnt happen in Japan as of yet, at least as far as I remember. And Nintendo did say that availability of Switch units would increase starting July, so it could very well be the increased shipment coupled with stockpilling units.

And in any event, it is still an impressive number, no matter the cause for it.

DQ outperformed my expectations. Both versions beasted. Incredible week all round!

Everything did exceptionally well this week. I wonder what WW switch sales looked like last week and this week.

Lol you came late to the party. There was a thread before about DQ and PS4 and 3DS HW sales. So the Switch is the most surprising one here.

I wonder if we'll ever see a week like this again, excluding holiday seasons.

The Wii/DS/PSP years were great. Been stale since

Wow, Switch nearly 90k. Wasn't expecting that. Nice numbers for Splatoon 2 again and nice to see ARMS holding well.

It's ridiculous how dominant/centralizing the 3DS was this gen. Take the Vita, WiiU, PS4 and Switch, while you're at it, combined, and you're still 7.7 million units, or several years, short of the 3DS total.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.
