Everyone talking about the Switch on the first page although this is the big Dragon Quest 11 release week. lol

Both Dragon Quest 11 versions did fantastic and combined they did 2.1M first week which is truly insane!!!

Hardware this week is great too, Dragon Quest 11 gave a huge boost to 3DS and PS4 hardware numbers!!!

It's because everyone thought Switch would be eclipsed by 3DS and PS4 since it's Dragon Quest week. But it didn't actually, it held fairly well. It's even more impressive than an expected DQ boost.

Holy Switch.

Why? PS4 did 93k > 89k Switch's.

The impressive number here is the 141k 2DS/3DS's.

HOLLY SWITCH!

Maybe because Switch sales are impressive?

They are not trying to discredit DQ, its just that this week is good overall.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Btw a few days ago I said in the COMG thread that I won't be surprised if Dragon Quest does 2.5M first week. If we include digital sales to the 2.1M retail first week number, it actually might have reached 2.5M first week!

Yeah, and the Switch had no new releases this week.

Maybe Nintendo did manage to increase supply, or they just had enough for 2 weeks after Spla2n.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I think the Switch is the biggest news today because we are looking for signs that supply might be up, and these strong sales imply Nintendo might finally have figured something out (maybe a ~50k baseline incoming?) PS4 and 3DS sales are very impressive, but it's Dragon Quest week so we kind of expected it.

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
I still dont think DQXI will beat pokemon BW even with digital , that 2.55m was insane. also amazing HW numbers especially the 3ds , PS4 too , that switch hold is amazing but considering the supply constraints over the months , guess everybody wanted one.
I dont think those DQXI numbers (combined) can be beat until either a multiplat MH or a new Pokemon gen,
P.S. Is that the best launch (combined) for a game this generation in japan? IIRC X and Y was 1.9 million
Did not expect Switch to have this many units available following Splatoon 2's release week. Dragon Quest is huge with 2m between 3DS and PS4.
2,099,203 copies of DQ11 (without digital sales), thats close enough I think its fair to say ~2.1m.
With digital sales I wouldnt be surprised if its already over 2.5m.
93k PS4's
89k Switches
and over 141k of 3DS/2DS's.
Pretty darn good week.
I dont really think we're gonna see 400k digital sales for DQ. That would be amazeballs, but I doubt it.
Considering the Switch has been heavily supply constrained for a long long time and it has almost the same number as it did during Splatoon 2 launch. It's really impressive. All consoles had great weeks but both PS4 and 3DS was expected to sell a lot of consoles (maybe not THAT many 3DS/2DS consoles) but I dont think anyone projected the Switch to sell 90k
