Nope you are all wrong because the Sony division that is going to adquire Funnimation is Sony Pictures TV which is part of Sony Pictures just like Sony Pictures Animation. These are the american/hollywood companies. The people who are bringing something unrelated is you as the Japanese animation companies are not involved in this.

Please read: http://variety.com/2017/digital/news/sony-pictures-tv-funimation-acquisition-1202511492/

Actually we arent wrong because no one denied that, you are still comparing two different studios and on top of that Pictures TV is still way different from Sony animations. No one was denying they will be part of Sony Pictures ... thats literally what weve been discussing this entire time? Like what do yoy think we've been talking about, Sony's camera selection? Most of their movies and tv shows from what I can tell lead back to Sony Pictures so like yeah... and your point is?

Also by your own argument you are wrong, since you are directly comparing A1 to Sony movies(something we are telling you not to do) and A1 is a subsidiary of Sony MUSIC Entertainments animation. So if we applied your logic you not only made a non argument but even ruined your own

I simply stated that Emoji was the most relevant example. When did I compared A1 to Sony movies.  Go back all the way and put that comparison please.

It kinda baffles me too. That...and how many people seem to be deciding the implications without even understanding what Funimation even is.

I can't pretend to know what will come of this, but I'd imagine it's more likely to do with streaming services than anything else. I cant really see how buying a distributor would impact the production of new content.

You made SAO and the Emoji movie sound like black stains on Sony when that shouldnt affect an acquisition at all. I honestly just dont see how the smiley movie should be a negative fof an acquisition, like Funimation doesnt even have anything to do with creation. Sure they both are part of Sony Pictures but thats it. Anyways this convo has become pointless. People are right, this is a straightforward transaction and arguing about it is dumb.

Emoji is the last bad choice in a long history of bad choices by Sony Pictures. I did forced it in to make a joke, I accept that. Also, my original comment only had a mention of Emoji, I'm not the one who threw in Anime Production into the mix.

Well, I hope that not much will change. Not sure what Sony have in store though.

Exactly. I guess some people don't undertand that funimation is an american distribution company that handles anime. It has nothing to do with the production of anime. I agree that sony probably did it for streaming and for when funimation's deal with universial on dvd distribution runs out, sony will take over that.

I think the CEO of funimation is staying on so I don't think they are restructiioning it all.

Will he have the same powers as before? Or is it more of a figurehead role?

He is staying on and has a 5% stake in the company. The other 95% is owned by Sony.

I assume so. Think-man told ya what they put out on it. Sony is likely just interested in the streaming and physical distribution of the IPs funimation has the rights to. It would be nice if they included free access to the app into PS plus or something like that. That's me just being hopeful. haha
