Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom: Ultra Street Fighter II Was A "Smash Hit" On Switch

So it sold 15 instead of the expected 10 copies? 50% above your estimate is indeed

How about bring RE0, RE1, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE Revelations 1 and RE Revelations 2 on the Switch?

I'll mention more: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Monster Hunter XX, Devil May Cry 4, Strider & Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Edit: Dragon's Dogma

Monster Huner xx is already coming, they just don't know if they'll make an english release(which they probably won't, but you can always port the game if you are willing to learn japanese)

Kisamaa.. Too hard to learn Japanese. >.<

Ok. Now give us a new Ghouls n' Ghost so I can be happy forever.

I keep forgetting Resident Evil 7 even fucking exists. It's like no one has talked it about it all since a month after it's released.

Capcom updated the sales figures on their websites - 3.7M copies shipped. Ultra Street Fighter 2 nowhere to be found on that list so it sold less than 1M copies.

Well what did you expect ? it's a SNES game sold at 40$ in 2017, it took 8 months to make the game, it didn't need to sell milions to make a great profit...

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers was Capcom's first major release for the Switch, but it came as something of a disappointment. Recycled content and a laughably poor first-person mode made it an unconvincing debut, despite the presence of that tried-and-tested Street Fighter magic.

While the game received a somewhat lukewarm critical reception, Capcom seems to be pretty happy with how it performed commercially. In the company's recent earnings report, the Japanese giant claimed that the title had been a "smash hit":

Ultra Street Fighter II (for Nintendo Switch), which was released in May 2017, made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit.

No actual sales figures were forthcoming. The 2D fighter - along with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Monster Hunter XX - contributed to increased sales for the quarter:

The resulting net sales were 7,688 million yen (up 14.1% from the same term in the previous year) and operating income was 1,676 million yen (compared with an operating income of 8 million yen for the same term in the previous year).

Hopefully, the robust performance of Ultra Street Fighter II will convince Capcom to bring more content to the Switch in the future.

I hope this will help in decision that Capcom brings much more titles to Switch.

Soooo we can count on Capcom suport on Switch from now onwards right ? they said that their support would depend on how successful USFII would be on the Switch and here we are with USFII selling more copies than expected from Capcom...

Really good news!

My bet is that we will see another old "classic" brought to Switch. ;)

Lazy port of a SNES game with minor effort put into it..... ofc its going to rake in money.

Nowadays that's what happen to most games that doesn't have a multiplayer mode.

And they capitalize on this success by being complete dumb asses with monster hunter

That can't be it. Porting SNES games is extremely expensive and time consuming. Why else do you think that there is still no Virtual Console for the Switch.

Capcom probably won't see a profit from this technological marvel for years.
