Forums - Gaming Discussion - Make money back from PS plus?

Tagged games:

I know a guy who bought bf4 digital when it was $5 on sale either last year or the year before.  He then proceeded to trade in his physical copy for $20.  Not sure if it was cash back or store credit.  So the sale allowed him to make money while keeping the game.

So this month just cause 3 went on ps plus for August.  If you own the game you could trade it in or sell it to someone.  Thus allowing you to benefit from this month's selection even if you were unlucky and already bought the game on offer.

Anybody ever do this? I'm sure over the next few years with more AAA ps plus games going on ps plus this will become a thing gamers can do more often.

Well I buy a lot of cheaper Ps plus games. I just bought DQ heroes II for 35 Euro and that is 15 euro less than I can find it in stores here yet. It makes me feel I am getting my money back :).

Well yeah it's great for getting discounts on games especially Japanese titles that are usually expensive in the shops.  But I was more talking about people that already own the game physically and can then rebuy it so cheap digitally that they actually make money when they trade in their physical copy.

Well, that's ignoring the initial cost of the game, which I assume he purchased for more than $20, so he still didn't make money, instead he cut his losses.

No the point is you bought a game ages ago you don't want to sell.  But then an insane digital sale or ps plus offering gives you the ability to keep said purchase but make some money while you're at it.

I guess so. But I'm not sure how many people do that.

Well I bought only two 2017 games so far, Crash and DQ heroes II and both digitally ^^'. In fact I hardly buy retail games...

Not many. I've never done it but my friend made me realise. Like I could have bought The Order 1886 recently on sale for $4. If I had a retail copy i ould have traded it in for more Thus making money back as you say but also holding onto the software. If you own JC3 you could now trade it in get money for it and then get it again in a week from PS plus.

I don't do it any more. Did it once with Dragon's Crown on the Vita. Bought it days before it was announced for Plus, returned it, and bought Killzone: Mercenaries. I'm actually finally playing Dragon's Crown right now. Just yesterday, I was wishing I still had my physical copy as well. Mental problems.

Hmm, I'm a freak and only buy physical copies of games, but I guess it's cool for others who want to do that.
