Would you like MS to team up with Nintendo?

MS destroys studios.

Rare.

Lion Head.

Mishandled Bungie and lost them.

MS would ruin Nintendo. No thanks.

- More powerful and innovative hardware

- Nintendo will become more mainstream outside of Japan

- MS well be more mainstream outside of US

- Rare will become great again

Thoughts?

- Nope, Nintendo's innovation and Microsoft's hardware can't coincide. Nintendo Switch is already a miracle from a handheld perspective, making a console with Nintendo's innovation and Microsoft's power sensibilities would be super expensive and probably wouldn't work.

- Nintendo is just as mainstream as Xbox in most countries, they just have bad generations unlike Microsoft. The only place that might improve if they merge is Europe, but that is a Playstation dominated area.

- Rare being "great again" has nothing to do with Nintendo. The people who used to work at Rare and make great games are gone, that's why we have Sea of Thieves instead of Banjo Threeie.

Anyways I don't think this would work at all, I don't think Nintendo and Microsoft could get past their widely different approaches to hardware, but they would both see an increase in sales. It's possible with the two merging though, that Sony takes up an even bigger percentage of the market cap.

They can share second place together.

Only way it happends is if Microsoft buys nintendo.
Xbox will then decide over everything nintendo.... guess what? their freedom gets taken away, no more weird game concepts, no more "out there hardware" stuff.

Xbox would micromanage Nintendo to death.

Nintendo partnered with Philips after Sony screwed up their bussiness deal and Philips doesn't know shit about videogames that's how the CDI happened. MS on the other hand does have people who understand games and together could make a console with qualities from both worlds.

You do know it was Nintendo that back out, right? If someone screwed it up, it was Nintendo.

I got the blue marker on this thread but I don't see any reply. Oh well.

Not going to happen but if it would, it would make more sense than a sony + nintendo console.

quite the opposite for what I just mentioned.  Look at what MS did to Rare for heaven's sake!

Hipotetically speaking a platform with too much 1st party content would be counterproductive. Too many releases in the same time span would prevent games to get their proper spotlight, giving sony and nintendo no other choice than reduce their 1st party output.

I don't think that would make happy either sony or Nintendo fans.

On the other hand ms and nintendo could be conplementary to each other where ms would guarantee proper 3rd party support and competitive online services, while nintendo could add 1st party titles and japanese relevance to the equation.

What if everyone just goes 3rd party and everyone can enjoy every game because we will have unified platform?

one big release a month is 6 each.  Then the smaller stuff.  It would keep the console selling gangbusters throughout the year and Sony brings the 3rd party support and online just like MS.  Sony also helps with worldwide relevance instead of just the NA market like MS

Please enough with this bullshit.  They both fucked up.  Sony was trying to claim IP rights for any game put on the system.  You think Nintendo would really settle for that?  Of course they backed out.
