Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you think PSVR may get the Virtual Boy or Vita treatment?

Name all the Sony 1st party PSVR games announced at E3 this year.

Spoiler: It's a rather a short list.

Uh GT Sport has a VR mode and its releasing in October, Media Molecule's Dreams will have VR support, Supermassive who made Until Dawn and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood are releasing The Inpatient this year which is a full blown prequel to Until Dawn, Supermassive is also making a game called Bravo Team for the PSVR, not to mention Farpoint which came out a few months ago along with the PSVR Aim controller, also there are rumours of Sony making brand new controllers for PSVR, regardless of first party titles announced at E3 (don't know why we're focusing on first party announced at E3 but whatever) Sony is supporting the PSVR way more than they did the Vita and there's way more to come. Seriously this thread and others like it will look even more dumb than they already do now by next year

For every 1st party Sony game that supports PSVR, there are even more that don't. When will the gap ever narrow?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Virtual Boy had like 7 games.
Don't really see how can you even begin to compare it to PSVR.

Comparison is based on sales, not the overall experience.

However, since the PSVR truly is significantly better experience to Virtual Boy - why hasn't it sold significantly better than Virtual Boy?

Even with requirement to own a PS4, I would anticipate it faring far better given the amount of content available.

1. The PSVR has sold 1.8 million in 9 months compared to Virtual Boys 750k since the fucking 90's, lol

2. The PSVR is not done selling, once again since it came out 9 months ago, again lol

3. The bolded literally hurt my brain

I'm still holding out for holodecks. They will probably release before Star Citizen.

You might want to start saving up for a spot in one of these if you're going to wait for holodecks...

Virtual reality headsets willl be perfected over the next few decades. Holographic displays may or may not get a breakthrough, yet will still be small scale and expensive. First they will enhance your smart phone display, not really suited for virtual reality. At some point perhaps what was shown in the movie 'Her' will be possibble with multiple holographic projectors.

PSVR will bbe supported until ps5 comes out, with likely some price drops. Then a gen 2 headset will replace it to go along with the ps5 launch. At least I hope it will be ready for the ps5 launch. Feels very backwards to return to screen only gaming.

I'm immortal so no problem. As for Mortals those things don't work. Ice crystals form in the brain creating thousands of micro puncture wounds. Same with the rest of your organs. Anyone who has money for those should give it to me so I can get a new PC and geta  Switch. Damn dumb rich people.

Start your own cryonics company, that's how you get dumb rich people to give you their moneys for a new PC.

PSVR is actually getting a lot of good games right now and there are quite a few more coming over the course of the rest of the year. Plus, sales have been ahead of Sony's expectations. So I'm not too worried about it's future.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

What's a psvr?

Well... i'm told by fans that it's a big sucess...

Cause obviously a 1m userbase is what Sony was aiming at.

Like... i have the same opinion i had before all this VR stuff launched. It's a fad. Just like motion controls and 3D, it's a recurring fad.

A huge monstrosity you put in your head will never be a big sucess.

Hats, Sunglasses, Eyeglasses, and Headphones, seem to tell a different story.

If something delivers an incredible experience, ehances social experiences, or greatly changes things for the better, people are more than willing to wear stuff on their head.

Cutrent VR is not quite there as far as social experience goes, and resolution needs to improve to deliver an experience that everyone feels comfortable in. That will change very quickly though. PSVR2, Vive 2, Rift 2, and ehatever Microsoft delivers will all be much better than current VR, at better prices, and while being much sleeker. The experience will be so good that people will have no problem wearing whatever is required.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
