Epic for Persona standars

That is what I am not getting. How come this series is not selling way more than that.

I learned about the existence of this series with Persona 4 Golden. And it was the best RPG I have played last gen. I bought it only because it was on sale and people on this site were saying this game was a steal at the price it was listed that week.

It's a Japanese-centric turn based RPG with anime characters. I don't think anyone expected 3 million or more sales. It's sad but quality has never been excatly equal with sales.

Its a very niche and extremelly japanese kind of franchise (JRPG/Visual Novel/High School Simulator...) that is usually only translated from japanese to english and none other language, is not exactly the definition of a hit, however the series has earned a great reputation and a lot of fans through time so is finally having great sales too

If it keeps doing ~90k-100k for a few (2) months more.... well it should pass 2m.
It deserves so much more though.

Thats excellent sales. And given the pedigree of the franchise and the reviews this had, it will keep selling, even if slowly.

Atlus certainly deserves this.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It's also getting its first international holiday season this year, so hopefully November and December are generous to it!

So just 200k to go to win the bet in my signature, nice.

Total shipments for Persona 5 were last reported on April 5 as 1.5 million. Since then, the game was also released in Korea on June 8.

Persona 5 launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on September 15, 2016 in Japan, March 23, 2017 in Traditional Chinese, and April 4 in North America and Europe.

Hold up, I just noticed something really confusing. The total sales for Persona were reported as 1.5 million by April 5, with around 600k of those being from Japan. The game only launched in Europe and NA on the 4th. Does that mean that around 800k one day sales were accumulated through europe and na?

Actually looking at these sales again, they're not as impressive as i thought. I assumed it was end of april to end of july giving it 300,000 more copies well after launch, but if this is from april 6th onward than a bunch of these sales are probably from western buyers who didn't buy the game in the first two days. Now I feel kind of disappointed, legs might not be as good as I originally thought. Maybe i'm overlooking something.

I love JRPGs a lot. I tried to get into Persona 5 and just couldn't do it. Might try again when this game goes on sale for really cheap maybe. So much time spent just walkingtalking and watching videos hardly any game play. I love a lot about this game though the animationdrawing everything was done right. Honestly just talking about it makes me want to try it again lol.

After Elder Scrolls, jrpgs lost a lot of luster. The turn base and lineal path doesn't compare well with open world rpgs that you can do so much without either doing the main story line. I liked Persona 5 but I didn't enjoy like I used to enjoy jrpgs in the 90s and early 00s

It must be over 2 million if digital sales were taken into account. The game was in first place on PSN for a bit iirc.

Absolutely fantastic to see the series grow to this level.
