Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dreamcast HD! In-Depth Breakdown!

Insert VGA cable into Dreamcast then insert VGA plug into 4k TV VGA/PC socket. Play games of 640x480 60Hz upscaled to 3840x2160 60Hz with minimal input lag. Alternatively keep correct 4:3 aspect and allow vertical borders left and right. Sadly if I want to video capture I can only do so in s-video quality.

I came into this thread hoping to read about a relaunch from Sega in the form of a Dreamcast HD! Disappointed...

Bah, giving me hope of a mini DC! My DC is still back in Europe. I got 'HD' out of it by feeding it into my PC whcih upscaled it and send it to my CRT projector. For some reason the projector would not connect directly to the DC, incorrect signal level. Crazy taxi at 70" was better than in the arcades :)
Somehow we managed to play 4 player splitscreen ReVolt on a 14 inch tv at work in the conference room. We had important meetings back then. (Projectors weren't quite portable back then, hence the little tv)

Me too.  Title is somewhat misleading.

Getting a sharp, progressive image out of your Dreamcast requires only a few steps and a VGA connection. Some displays lack this input, however, and if you want to capture the footage you might run into issues. In this video I rundown the Dreamcast video options, review several products for getting razor sharp VGA out of the device, and suggest a few products for taking the DCs 480p image up to 1080p for crisp HD capture and display!

Getting a sharp image out of my Dreamacst requires only one step... plugging it into my CRT TV.

Can't argue with that :)
Have you tried VGA to an old CRT monitor? Perfection!

I have a little EDTV (480p) that I rotate consoles onto when I'm not feeling the projector. I wish I had room to add a CRT to the mix. My NES would look a lot better lol.
