GNU/Linux anyone?

Yup. Been moving there ever since win10 - which isn't a bad OS in itself, but represents a shitty paradigm of "OS as a service" - basically, we're gonna change it up any way we want to and you're gonna like it - well, no.

I recommend Ubuntu MATE.

Raw Debian with GNOME 3 or a custom desktop setup.
I am in a love hate relationship with GNOME 3.
I love the ease of use and great out of the box looks; but hate the bloat.

What do you mean with support and development. Has it been updated since the 90s?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

MS paint is very limited compared to photoshop... so perhaps this is for the best.

This thread makes me realize that I have a lot of nostalgia for Paint.

This piece of software has never been a joke since the 80's, there are a lot of talented people have done great job at this by using mouse.

But photoshop is much more complex and costs money.

And Krita comes to our rescue.

As a paint programe, Krita is of course surperior to Photoshop (and most of the paint programs out there), but Photoshop is more comparable to GIMP anyway.

Well Krita and GIMP are free and open source so...
Just use that.

I don't know about Krita, but compared to GIMP Paint is easier to use. The reason I still stick with Paint for years is because its simplicity.

Paint.Net is easier to use then Gimp and it provides the ability to do Mask which is very important in more advance image work.  If you get a chance take a look at paint.net.

Goodnight, sweet prince...
