Not only that Splatoon 2 was launched on smaller instal base, but its for 1/3 of price more expensive than Splatoon 1. Aslos, you need to consider current very limited instal base of Switch in UK, Switch instal base in UK is maybe around 200k, Splatoon 2 sold around 28k in first week, that means that around 15% Switch owners bought game in its 1st week. Yes, sales will be better on other markests, but this sales in UK are good in any case.

I've already considered install base, if i hadn't i'd be describing it as a flop (28k for a major PS4 or X1 release would be terrible in most circumstances). I still don't consider it "good" though. 15% is not a particularly big number when you're dealing with a small group of new (and by extension more active) users with limited choice of major releases. Even stuff like Killzone:SF can  (and did) maintain high attach ratios in the UK in that kind of environment, even with terrible legs once that environment shifted.

Don't get me wrong, i don't consider Splatoon 2's UK launch bad. I just don't consider it good either. It's fine if you do, but it's not a position i can overall find a reason to share.

Of Course that 28k wouldn't be good for instal base of couple of millions, but for instal base of around 200k its good. Killzone:SF was launch game and launch games intend to sell good at launch (especially in holiday season), especially when they are heavily bundled (like Killzone:SF was at launch).

It had one day to sell competitively and it debuted at 2nd place. It released on the 21st and these results are from the 22nd. Think before you type

You can spin things all you want but ranking 2nd behind Crash's third week is not even remotely close to impressive even if it's just a single day's data. Coming weeks may or may not be good but that's beside the point.

It's not "spinning" it's a basic level of understanding that, when a system that has less units on the market than another system by a signficant margin especially in the UK, and that game only has one day of sales in a single week, and that it's facing a platforming mascot that is extremely popular in the UK, it's going to have less of a chance to sell. Basic logic = "spinning"? This isn't exactly a secret dude.

Few points about Crash and Splatoon 2 sales.

[Week 26, 2017] 01 (NE) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) > 110,000 / NEW
[Week 26, 2017] 01 (01) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) > 24,000 / > 134,000 (-78%)
[Week 26, 2017] 03 (01) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 18,000 / > 152,000
[Week 26, 2017] 01 (03) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 29,000 / > 181,000 (+59%)

So Crash in its 3. week sold more than it did last week (stock issues).

Splatoon 2 has 59% higher debut than Splatoon 1, its sold around 28k.

So at end:

01 (03) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 29,000
02 (NE) SPLATOON 2 (NINTENDO) - 28,000

So prety strong debut for Splatoon 2.

There's something wrong with this site on mobile. When I quote someone the quote doesn't appear then when I type my response only the quote gets posted. Anyone else?

Anyway I just want to say I'm ashamed how many people have used the word insane and not taken advantage of the pun N'sane. The bandicoot crashed the party so get it right people!

That's precisely my point. Your reference for Splatoon 2's performance being good is install base, but you acknowledge here that other variables can shift the standard. I think we can agree that those 200k UK users being new, and having a relatively limited choice of major releases shifts that standard, we just disagree by how much. That's fine, i'm not trying to change your opinion (i have no inherent problem with your position), i'm just explaining why it's not a view i share.

Splatoon 2's opening couldn't beat a remaster's third week. Hardly impressive.

It had one day to sell competitively and it debuted at 2nd place. It released on the 21st and these results are from the 22nd. Think before you type

So, you're saying it had 2 days?

This is quite possibly the worst defense for a game's poor sales. Happens all the time, despite that being the normal amount of time for FW sales. Games never get a full 7 days for their FW sales.

Wooow a port of a game that only appeared on WiiU and 3DS. Nice!

It is nice, when Switch has only around 200k instal base in UK while PS4 and XB1 have instal base of few milions each.

Smaller install base but this is countered by fewer games along with Splatoon being new compared to Crash's 3rd week. Splatoon really should have won.

Oh, it's Crash's 4th week. Also, is 28k counting the bundles?

The bottom line is...

While Crash beating Splatoon 2 is an impressive feat for Crash, while a negative one for Splatoon, if Wii U sales of the first games are anything to go by, the game is gonna do perfectly fine!

So, i don't see why anyone should get salty.

I'm getting messages over this wth

Didn't Knack outsell Mario at some point in the UK? It's one of Nintendo's weakest markets after all. Can't wait for Crash to get knacked in the end as it should be.
