Eh, it's Gamingbolt. I'd be cautious taking anything from them as substantial.

Thats why I say rumor. But past actions support what they are saying.

Yes to both.

I think MS are just gonna cruise out this gen.

Making articles surrounding GAF posts is a terrible idea. That's a conclusion anyone could come up with based on their current actions. I personally think they're trying to see if they can swing enough of the multiplat market their way with the X1X before they decide to start making any significant investment in AAA first-party titles, outside the usual trio of course. It's shaky, to say the least.

I don't know who that "Matt" guy is, but doesn't sound like there's any particular credibility behind this.
The fact that Spencer recently said the opposite makes this seem less likely to be true. If it happens though, I guess we will notice within a year or so.

Remember when Phil said Scalebound was coming along fine like two weeks before it was cancelled?

That guy is either really out of the loop or a compulsive liar, it'd actually be wiser to believe anonymous people online over what Phil says.

Wouldn't be surprising. Since XB is really only a side business for MS in comparison to its main money makers, then they probably aren't worried about pushing it near the same way SNY invests in PS.

From an upper management perspective, if you look at the more significant investments into XB360, and see how well it did, then look at the relatively weak investment into XB1 by comparison, and see that its basically on par in terms of console numbers with 360, well why bother working harder and creating more chaos if you can do less and meet the same expectations, if not exceed them in terms of profits?

360 still required more physical game sales to cover the console cost and make its profits. XB1 is sold at cost if not a small profit and is focusing more on online/digital to make its profits. XB1 right now is closer to a more efficient version of the 360 in terms of costs vs sales vs profits.

Their problem, as far as upper management is probably concerned, is that not only isn't the PS4 well behind like PS3 was, its WAY ahead. Maybe MS understood that PS was "back for revenge" right from the PS4 launch, and that trying to spend their way to victory would be a waste of time, money, and resources, so just make the XB1 as "efficient" as possible in terms of input costs, and continue to profit regardless for this gen.

Whether or not they would decide to keep this model, or try and push forward and invest into next gen heavily to capture more market share, would be the question. If MS is allowing XB to grow their first party, like Phil has talked about, it sounds like it would line up just in time for next gen anyway, which makes sense, from a business and strategy perspective.

If this is true, this is an absolute backstab to those who were told that investment was increasing. Hope it isn't true, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Sad times for Xbox fans indeed...

Reminds me of the time when MS was all about PC, then they brought about the Xbox and left PC gaming behind for a good number of years.

I honestly don't know how they are to continue making First party games when their goal is to release games they own onto PC as well.

I have my doubts about this info.

I don't understand how anyone can trust Spencer anymore...as things are atm he's more like the biggest con-man in the industry.

When you really want something to be true, you write an article about it.

Let's say Gamingbolt would write an article about anything. They're the absolute worst site in the industry next to Thisgengaming. Pure clickbait infested trash...worse than Polygon by far.

Matt correctly knew what the XB1 X's price was before Microsoft revealed it at E3 (and later, Geoff Keighley corroborated Matt's claim). A lot of people on GAF jumped on him because he dared to tell them to tone down their $399 expectations.

Well that kind of PR talk seems pretty standard. You basically say that things are as they previously were known to be. You give no new info.

But to say that they're going to increase investments is different. That's new info. So I don't think he would say that unless that was on the table at the time.

So you think someone who tells a blatant lie about a game he's about to cancel in two weeks (instead of stayinf quiet, or responding with "no comment) can be trusted about something as vague as "we're increasing investment in the future". Seriously?
