Forums - Movies & TV - Critics and Moviegoers are so wrong about Dunkirk- Boring Snorefest that only keeps you awake because you expect a Nolan movie to be awesome- Sooo many spoilers!!!

Hmh.
I have my reservations about this movie.
Will this be another Hurt Locker? It just looks so unappealing to me.

If it's a war movie I know I won't like it. I find they all to be extremely boring and tiresome.

Good night, guys (and moon).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Dude, I really recommend you logging off and relaxing. Jesus.

"Did you love him in Mad Max when the director barely had him talk?"

Oh god, please tell me you're not one of *those* guys. The ones who complain because Mad Max isn't the main focus in a Mad Max movie?

Nolan isn't Imaishi or Shinbo, I don't know what you expected.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Didn't find it boring. I mean just because nearly everyone else likes it doesn't mean you have to.

Also I mean that's kinda how it played out in real life. except there was alot more aerial combat amongst Luftwaffe and RAF. The British lost around 70,000 soldiers in that campaign rescued 340,000 hence why we british see it as a Victory, or at least celebrate the fact that civilians and everyday people came to their rescue in their hour of need.

I expect a movie that is overly gritty, serious, pretentious, convoluted and is really not that smart but tells the audience yes they are. They feel smart and automatically think BRILLIANT. Esp with a nonsense ending people will debate the meaning of when again it's only purpose is to make the average person feel smart. Yeah sorry it's not secret. I can't stand Nolan's work. I would not use the word hate but I would use the sound a loud *sigh* and a  groan and a sad fart :P. I only heard of this film on this site and know nothing about it. Still that's what I expect if I did see it.

Do you go to see Indiana Jones without Indiana being part of it?

What about Dunkirk without it actually being in Dunkirk,  maybe on the border instead.

No,  so why did we get Mad Max with very little Max? Also how dare they not give Gibson a cameo!

I liked it more than Dunkirk for sure.  75/100

This is what I don't get about the negative reactions to Fury Road - when you say stuff like this, it makes it feel like you've never seen a Mad Max film besides maybe the first one(which honestly .... is pretty bad). All of the Mad Max films besides the first are entirely about Max, through a series of events, getting invovled in a group of sympathetic people that he has a clear detatchement with. Mad Max has never been the main focus of the movies, it's always been on the affect he had on the Post Apocalyptic world. That probably sounds mutually exclusive but it really isn't. The formula for the 2nd movie and 3rd are the exact same as Fury Road. He's there helping others to get out of a bad situation - and then at the end he walks away in the sunset to become a mysticized stuff of legends for simply taking a few days to help people. What has always been great about the Mad Max films is Max showing his humanity in a world where its non existent. He is almost always reluctant to help people, but he always ends up doing it from a cold distant perspective. He is like a folk hero of the Apocalypse. If you don't like Fury Road because it's "not enough Mad Max", tell me what part in the movies did he take center stage entirely or have some epic speech or have tons of dialogue. There isn't, except maybe the origin story.

Is it because you don't like the female protaganists?

Also they're all directed by the same guy

Going by the amount of good things you hate and the amount of bad things you like I have serious doubts :P

But I still haven't seen it.

She was great. I gave it a C+, that is good.  Probably just nostalgia for me,  I love Gibson.

Lol, I wasn't trying to come off as an ass, I just wanted to know where you were coming from. I swear I wasn't trying to be rude!

Well I think Mad Max 2 : Road Warrior is still by *far* the best, so I don't think you're wrong for preferring Gibson's films!
