Forums - Website Topics - Some more good ideas.

Two posts in a row! A first for me, I think. Talking about the chart updates got me to thinking about other positive changes that could me made. I already gave a list of improvements that could be made, like video reviews and contests with prizes, but the general feedback I got was that the site is low on funds. I understand that and respect that. However, some things can be done for free or almost free.

The writers, moderators, contributers, and (ioi?) the site owner could make posts to talk about their lives, favorite games, and talk to us in general, so that we could have a nice, close community. It was a lot like that on 1up.com back in the day. Like who is that William Deangelo guy that writes most of the stories on here? I know nothing about him.

Also, podcasts must be cheap to produce. A staff podcast would be nice. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

A staff podcast would be a very good idea. For the other idea, thats basically the idea of a forum, which we already have going here.

For the podcast, assuming it would be weekly, every week it would have a guest in it, from a user in VGC.It would be nice if this idea got off the ground.Just need to find a group willing to do that.

Edit: And to incentivize it, put it on youtube and monatize it so that, if it does end up getting a following, it ends up being a source of income for the staff, and not ioi, that actually work hard here. And I trust the staff enough for the money distribution and those stuff to work.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, this is a nice start from your previous threads

tagging for a read later if people have ideas, podcast sounds cool but just because people are mods and type on message boards, doesn't mean they're going to be comfortable / entertaining on a mic.

I should be made a mod. I'd talk to the community. I definitely prefer the public discourse over a country club where pretty much any regular member is refered to as a fanboy.

It seems your country club analogy is pretty close to the truth. I really think the whole moderation thing is overdone here. I have never been on a site that is this overly strict. I get my posts locked over reasons that I can't find a good answer for. Some, I do understand, like when I was blasting Nintendo again and again, but sometimes I think some moderators, like ravenextra, just lock my posts, that break no forum rules, just because they don't like me.

I would welcome an open, friendly moderation team that would work with us, value us as members, and communicate with us, instead of treating us like enemies to punish or prisoners to "lock" up.

Yes, there is so much good that could be done here. But the site staff must get these things rolling to happen. As for the threads, they are ok, but maybe they could implement personal blogs that we could respond to and have cummunication.

Well, thank you! I am a nice guy like my name says. You just have to get to know me.

The problem isn't that the site is low on funds, the problem is that the owner is low on enthusiasm to do anything with the site.

I've heard. It is sad. Why would a guy own a site and mistreat it and hundreds of members?

True. However, those that are extroverts could chime in.
