Forums - PC Discussion - The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project - Update 4.6

I've been watching modder Halk Hogan working on Witcher 3 mods for some time and I've gotta say, he's really been busy working on improving his modifications made to the vanilla textures.

His latest upload:

(Video compose of screen wipes to show the differences from vanilla to mod version 4.6)

The mod can be found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1021/?

The mod itself features:

- high quality meshes with a lot of details, most of them are created from scratch, good optimization is preserved.

- very high quality detailed textures with great sharpness and performance, without any unnecessary VRAM losses (no unnecessary big textures for small stuff).

- very high quality accurate normal maps, almost all is baked from high poly meshes, these normals combined with detail normal maps, giving amazing look with almost any performance hit!.

- specially customized materials for all reworked stuff.

I'll end up giving this mod a go sometime in the next few weeks, once I've got my new rig together that is.

Edit: I've taken out the screenshots since the video does the job better.

I'm playing the game on PS4 right now and already think it looks absolutely gorgeous, can't wait for the PS4 Pro patch, and I've seen the game running on max settings at 1440p on my brother's PC, but what they're doing is insane and it's going to look so incredible! I think so far from the modding community my favourite game has been Skyrim with all the enhancements, they made that game look pretty fucking epic, now let's see how this looks when it's done :P

I'll be rolling with 1440p soon (possibly tomorrow, going by my delivery notice). I've also been going back and forth between mods on Skyrim, specifically mountain and grass textures, trying to find ones that really gel well together.

This one so far goes well with the flora overhaul mod:

I wonder if I can even handle this on my 970, I get between 80-100 frames on high with it haha

No harm in trying out to see what it can handle

I usually run with high/ultra on my 980 to see what it can handle and scale down from there.

Umm, the top picture looks better. Perhaps the difference is in full size.

Those screens aren't really the best example of the mod. The video has much better examples that show a clear improvement.

I dunno why the top would look better when it's the default texture of the house wall. The reworked version has more bumps to it and it actually looks like it has more depth, not to mention more detail to it.

Definitely going to be downloading this and STLM when I upgrade my PC and buy Witcher 3 on PC (already own it on XB1).

I assume you mean this mod?

Never heard of it until now, but god damn does the forest at 0:30 look so beautiful.

The colors look better and more balanced in the top picture. Also the bumps, depth and contrast don't look natural in the bottom picture, too much.

The video does a better job at showing the differences, ie all the hi-res textures. Most look good, some a bit unrealistic. Is there a mod to make the trees move more realsitically? That was the only thing that stood out for me, weirdly shaking holloween trees.

Doubtful, I'm running Ultra on 1440p on my 980Ti and average about 60fps with all effects (except Nvidia Hairworks) on full and max draw distance. These mods are usually heavily taxing, I think my biggest kick in the nuts will be the amount of VRAM it can consume! :-O

As far as I'm aware, reading from his Nexus mod page, he doesn't dabble in messing around with the colours. What you are seeing is the slight change in lighting, like the time of day.

They look natural to me.  I've seen old housing on my island that dates back hundreds of years that have ridges and masonry like it.

I'm not sure if there is a mod that makes them move to how another thinks they should though (according to the devs, that's how vanilla trees move against high winds).
