I think Sony are trying to sell 20 million+ this year, so expect a lot of price drops mid year and during the holidays.

They would have to beat their "expected" goal of... was it 18m?

But it could happend.

18m Shipped, but they had almost 4m on shelves at the end of 2016, so they could ship 18m, sell 20m to consumers and still have about 1.6m on shelves.

Though it depends how many of those 18m shipped are for January-March 2018.

Crash did more than 400K based on John Harker of Neogaf. Holy shit yes. CTR online here we go.

So even with huge supply issues, Switch outsells Xbox one every month it has been out.

I'm not sure how "big" being down 28 percent is, but being up over 60 percent is gotta be super huge.

TBH Sony was holding a price cut for PS4 last year, it even ended up barely up YoY and mostly because of a great Q4. With the deals for the Holidays putting it at 200 bucks with one or two games, it will fly off the shelves. Anyway, it's good to see it up by 60%. It won't bet up YoY for that amount, but a good start can lead to a decent yearly increase.

Being down 28% is a sign that X1 is starting to lose sales to PS4 faster and that helps us to explain why PS4 is up YoY by such a huge margin. I think it's similar to PS1 vs N64, where the fight was a bit close in the first years but then it simply became an onslaught. A lot of people here say that profit is what matters and that sales are important just for forum dwellers. But it's clear that when you control a big share of the market, it's easy to use these number to continuously erode the share of your competitors and that leads to profit.

The demand for Switch is also great. Nintendo just has to continue releasing good games on it to keep sales high and that will attract some 3rd party support. It won't get all games, but if at least gets 1/4 of them it's a great deal.

I would say that with the numbers we are hearing, Activision would be N.sane if they don't release more games.

Only thing this tells us is the ps4 is doing amazing. We have to wait to november at least to see the x1 performance. Although I still think is going to end up down yoy.

Agree with you about the importan of the sales gap. Mainly cuz it will influenz next gen. We are already seeing how little by litle, third partys are doing more and more eclusives for the market leader. They will eventually build better relationships with sony, and IP's will have no presense in the competition. Its like kindom hearts, even if its on xbox, we wont see it lighting up the chartz for the x1 when it comes out, while the ps4 on the other hand will be on fire. All beacuse there is no fan base on the xbox ecosystem. This will make thouse games feel like exclusives s even if next gen they still get all third party suport, they will sell ps5's and nt x2's. I guess we already saw that with rise of the tomb raider.

Holy mother of Coco 400k+ in only 2 days??? That is freaking N.Sane!!!
After so many years Crash Bandicoot shows that it is still such a beast, Activision must be really surprised!

For those who didn't catch them, I posted updated graphs in the NPD prediction thread. Here's the links:

Monthly Charts
Quarterly Charts
LTD Charts

The PS3/360 sold 78 million in the US, where as the PS2/Xbox like 65 million. The PS4/XB1 should be closer to the PS3/360 in the end.
