Of course, there's bad apples within every faith and that there's non-religious extremists, too but the vast majority of terrorists in modern times come from the muslim faith. Everyone is already being screened or vetted to some degree but I agree that it should be strengthened across the board but muslims should be vetted more if they come from certain countries.

Doesn't matter where the majority are. You do not do a half-assed job, vet everyone, stop discriminating, do something once, do it right or do not do it at all.

There are active buddhist terrorists in Asia. You have Christian terrorists in Africa, you are essentially leaving the door open for them, that is not okay.

My point still stands. Of course, you vet everyone but you focus that attention on certain groups because that is where the wheel is squeaky. Discrimination? How about common sense profiling. People lost all sense when they started to see any discrimination as a bad thing. How do you expect to find a criminal if you're afraid to use any of their individual traits to track them? If you're looking for illegal immigrants, do you pull over blacks to make the hispanics feel like you're not discriminating against them? What stupidity and a waste of resources. Progressives always turn a good idea into something that's ass backwards that everyone else has to fix or work around by coming up with pragmatic solutions.

If you are vetting everyone. A criminal cannot get through ANY avenue. That is the ENTIRE point.
Your way leaves a back door open as you are only picking and choosing who to vet, seems to be a simple concept that leaves conservatives baffled.

The majority of Muslims do not even live in the Middle East. - Where are Trumps proposed immigration restrictions? Most are in the Middle East region.
If you truly wished to put a stop to islamic extremism finding it's way to your country, then you need to be a little more proactive instead of picking and choosing who to discriminate against because of some wierd political agenda.

I am not saying to be afraid of using individual defining traits. I am saying to vet everyone.

That isn't what I am saying at all. You have turned it into a straw-man argument.
I mean heck. Muslims aren't restricted to any specific "race" profile anyway.

If have no problem with Turks being patriotic, but 'jihad' did not mean pro-Turkey in a historic content.

Didn't work out for them too well when Germany convinced the Ottomans to do it in WW1.

I said to screen everyone while focusing the vetting efforts/largest amount of resources on a group of people with the largest amounts of terrorists who actively target the west. Your entire arguement hinges on me having the belief that we only screen/vet muslims which I dont't. *shrugs

It's not a strawman but an example of the kind of fallancy in your line of thinking.

more islam in a society, the worse it becomes

A member of the opposition Republican People's Party, Mustafa Balbay, said any suggestion the theory was beyond their understanding was an insult to high school students.

"You go and give an 18-year old student the right to elect and be elected, but don't give him the right to learn about the theory of evolution...This is being close minded and ignorant."

The theory of evolution is rejected by both Christian and Muslim creationists, who believe God created the world as described in the Bible and the Koran, making the universe and all living things in six days. Mr Erdogan, accused by critics of crushing democratic freedoms with tens of thousands of arrests and a clampdown on media since a failed coup last July, has in the past spoken of raising a "pious generation".

Muslims dont believe the universe  was created in six days. At least no muslim i know believes thag. The quran does mention stages or periods of crtion not days its just the same word ayyam is used in arabic for days and indefinite amounts of periods. So the ayyam can be one day or it can be billions of years

And we dont believe God needs any rest whatsoever  unlike the christians who say he rested the seventh day. And not all creationists deny evolution though most do. But learning about something should not be forbidden and the turkish government is being very stupid. Finally jihad means struggle it has notbing to do with patriotism or war or religion in and of itself. Sure struggling for your nation is patriotism and struggling for winning wars is war related and jihad for Allah is religious but in and of itself jihad is just basic struggle and everyone does it. Now why are two news stories one about evolution studies the other about jihad linked together like they mean something together?

AGH, how many times I've told myself not to get into religion related discussions, but yeah, guess I cannot help myself but support what I believe

as Eagle367 said, no educated Muslim or Christian believes that God created everything in 6/7 days, this is just a simple argument used by atheists to call religious people brainless

the word day in the Bible/Quran is indeed allegorical refering to periods/stages of time and not 24 hours (words being used in a similar way is very common in ancient writings), in reality what Genesis describes is very close to what science says, this explains it very well

Genesis was revealed to Moses 4000 years ago, people could barely write or have calendars at the time, did scientists really expect Genesis to talk about atoms and chemical reactions, and for instance explain how genes and cells evolved through billions of years? lol obviously that would be pointless as those terms would not exist for the next 3.8 thousand years

maybe evolution and Genesis can co-exist, there is a first time for everything right? there is a point where gray looks more white than black, I don't see how evolution denies the fact that a first human existed, who was 50.0000001% human and 49.9999999% ape, is it that weird that the first of the human species was called Adam? :P

Jihad literally means "to strive for". A parent working 80 hours a week so their children can live without worry is jihad. An institution creating soup kitchens and feeding the poor is jihad. There are millions of examples of Jihad.

Unfortunately, the only section of it that is in focus by anyone is the "fighting for the defense of your neighbors" example. And by the looks of it, Turkey is going to follow in these steps as well. They're not teaching the true meaning of Jihad, rather, they're teaching and focusing on an extremely minute example of Jihad.

How is islam/religion the answer for these problems tough? There is 90% poor people because god wants it this way, any religion will teach you

Well if you just believe in this world that sounds atrocious and horrible but at least in Islam the poor will enter heaven a lot earlier than rich people. They are tested more in this life because God has more faith in them that they will remain faithful while for some rich dude who goes broke that might be a teat also or a punishment for not being faithful. And if God knows you cannot take hardships with faith he night ease you for you to remain faithful. Even being rich is a test since you have to give donations perform hajj etc and remain faithful in the face of many worldly desires. It would be no test if all the world was a middle class society where everyone loved each other no one needed help no wars but the war part is more humans being humans since free will does exist. If you think of this life as a test for the afterlife which is many times longer than this than it seems more logical for there to be this world of poor and hardships. Now if you ask why would an omnipotent being even require to test us since He already knows what we'll do I have no answer for that at the moment. But Christians and atheists and much of the world in fact has started to just think about this world while Muslims still think about this stuff and it is ingrained into us not all Muslims in fact the number of Muslims who think like this are also shrinking. But we don't have a magic way of someone taking our sins. The sins we do are ours and we will have them and our virtues and we'll take them to the grave. All we can do is ask for forgiveness. For an atheist who thinks only of the material world and who does not believe in any afterlife that might be a really hard concept to grasp and he will think its stupid but your way of thinking is what is in effect here since no scientific proof of God OE lack thereof or of the afterlife or lack thereof has been found or will be found

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Nationalism leads to a bad road very often.

Support your national teams and people from your nation but once you end up thinking your nation is the 'best in the world' and that people who aren't from your nation are inferior or not as good just because you fell out of your mother on that patch of land can be a dangerous idea.
