I know this because voice chat has been included with other technology items.

I don't need to be linked to Nintendo to know that they can put a voice chat program in the Switch.  Just like I don't need to be linked to Sony to know that the PS4 isn't the only system that is capable of doing voice chat.

Weird how having an informed opinion works isn't it?

If you rather the inner workings of the Playstation why not go off and figure out why that doesn't play PS 1 and 2 games then why instead people are asked to pay 12-15e per PS2 game and PSone isn't available to buy on the system. It's perfectly capable of running them but instead charges money for or point blank refuses to allow them be played.

At least the Switch has the function you are complaining about, it's just in a roundabout way they are providing it and a way that allows them to have kids playing online without voice chat very easily, What the Playstation 4 is "not capable" of doing there is solely to nickle and dime their customers for more money.

My point in my response, which apparently went over your head, is I don't have to have any link to Nintendo to understand that if they wanted to they could've included voicechat with the Switch without the need for another device and another app.  You can throw all the "but why doesn't this company do this" bullshit around you want to try to defend it but the practice itself is not practical or consumer friendly.

In fact, I would call it limiting, which is probably what Nintendo's goal for going this route was in the first place.

That last sentence btw is an assumption and an opinion, so if you ask for my resume because I made the statement I will most likely refuse.

You bought up the Playstation 4 having voice chat you...... "attempt at getting me my first moderation" I was "throwing" it out there because you mentioned what that system can do "it has voice app" if you can't handle the fact that the system YOU bring into a discussion has short comings, then don't bring it up in a conversation, fuck sake.

Just going to leave you to what you think you know about multi billion dollar companies and their devices though, no point discussing something with someone who forgets what they bring into a discussion one post beforehand, just terrible.

I didn't forget what I was bringing to the conversation, the example just didn't matter in the direction you attempted to take it.  You were attempting to divert from voicechat to backward compatibility to support your argument that the app on a phone is either an equivalent move (or better move) than just doing what other tech firms have done for now literally generations of hardware and releasing a voice chat capable piece of hardware without relying on the consumer having another piece of tech to be able to get the full experience.

Except here we know the app is an unnecessary workaround to something that could've been included with the system itself.

How do you know this? Genuinely interested as to your links with Nintendo.

my uncle works at Nintendo. Does that count?

Too much of a hassle. I am not going to download something that I don't need.

Yeah playing the Splatfest for a few hours seems like the game could use a slightly expanded emote wheel in game akin to what Overwatch uses... more than Booyah and Follow me, but I'm not sure I would want to jump into Voice chat in games unless we were doing a few groups from here or something... even then we would likely just be using the discord server I guess.

Sorry, but I like the idea of being able to leave my switch to go get a bag of chips and still talk with people while my phone is on me.

You could just, you know, call them on the phone to talk to them.

Call 8 people? Lol? That's why things like this are nice it's group chat not phone call limitation.

I was waiting for somebody to post this rationale.

I hope you don't eat chips while gaming.  You'll get your controller all greasy.

Well I'm glad Nintendo didn't limit themselves to that logic or we wouldn't have a switch for fear that the consumer would ruin the console on the go with greasy fingers!

Ok, go with Discord.  Or any of the other choices out there for a third party app designed for people to talk to each other that isn't tethered to a specific environment.  Point is, for Nintendo to link their voice chat to another device through an app is unnecessary when the tech already exists for them to have thrown it in the system itself in the first place.

I try to keep my game room as a food-free zone.

I think most eat while gaminh. I myself workout a bunch and need to eat a lot so I usually have a bag of organic pistachios and raisens near the computer to nibble on.
