Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Dataminers find text about the end of Miiverse from new Wii U update

It's really a shame. I had toooons of fun with it and some bizarre posts XD.

Miiverse was truly awesome until the mods became such assholes. Even then, it was great but when they started making all of these "improvements", it just became unintuitive and not very fun. I really would like it to return on the Switch, though.

The problem was the cost of maintenance, which includes employing moderators. A lot of people started to get really sleezy in an environment which has the requirement to live up to the standards of certain countries with very strict cultural rules in what children are allowed to see or read: I would say primarily Asian countries and the United States are responsible for this need due to their heavy restrictions on what words and things children are allowed to see.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Don't forget the new law in germany which is a big market for Nintendo regarding hate speech and such?

Nintendo is smart not to deal with things like that. Unless it's your core business, any business would distance itself.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Was a neat feature on Wii U and 3DS. Why doesnt Nintendo just bring it to Switch?

Since from a marketing standpoint, its better to have people share there screenshots and experiences through twitter/facebook rather than Miiverse, a closed network of only Nintendo owning people. I wish Miiverse could continue but I think this is what killed it, its a closed network. A lot of benifits to limiting people share on social media. I wish Miiverse could continue, it was such a great tool. It offers so much more to the consumer that social media can never replace.

Something that could be remedied. Let people tie up their Miiverse-account to Twitter/Facebook, so that Miiverse posts get autoposted in these networkd too.

It's handy to take and store screenshots to use on for example this site. I'd hope there'll be some way to keep being able to do this.
