Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Japan's Nintendo Switch Lines Are Hell

Literally Nintendo need to just go to Europe and Australia and take all our Switches back and send them to Japan and the US. Nobody here is buying them and we have thousands of people elsewhere lining up for hours for a chance to buy one

They need to get the switches in the hands of gamers as soon as possible, more hardware sold more software sold more games developed, good stuff.

Its hard to imagine the switch being that hard to get its in stock in in 11 stores just checking my lists in my country right now (The Netherlands) especially the splatoon bundle is available for € 374.00- € 379.00 in most stores.

there's your answer.

It's also rather easily available here in the Helsinki region, in Finland. Only the big stores have some shortages occassionally.

Yeah, but's easier to meet demand that's on a much smaller scale compared to a country like Japan were it's market base for handheld gaming consoles is the 20 million's and has demand which can cause a 3 thousand person line for one single store having a lottery for the chance of getting to just buy a Nintendo Switch.

Like we are talking how about how easy it is to produce at meet demand of a couple hundred or maybe a thousand or few Switch's a week compared to numbers in the thirty thousand or much higher range.

No argument there. My point was simply to confirm his assertion that great demand for Switch isn't necessarily global.

Buying Nintendo consoles is a national sport after all.

I wonder how many of those people won't be even able to get to buy one...

Edit: Checked the article, a line of 3,000 people for a store with 250 Nintendo Switch's... yikes.

They even had to do a lottery were the winners won the grand prize of getting to pay for a Nintendo Switch, these people were only lining up for the chance to buy one.

Well a line of 3,000 makes sense for a lottery. 2750 people would otherwise be idiots. Why would someone wait in a line of 3,000 people if only 250 of something was available. Only the front 250 should stay. Even the most optomistic person would realize that after 1,000 peopl were already in line that they have no chance getting something with quantities of only 250.

At least with lottery, the person in the back now has a 250/3000 or 9% chance of getting a Switch when otherwise he woudl have a 0% chance.

Looking at this makes me so happy I got my preorder done.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Eh, I don't know about that, it's going sold out in many places here in Europe too, after Splatoon 2 and SMO come out I'm positive the shortages will be strong here aswell...

Cant be that bad, probably a lot of MonHun and Pokemon to be played in those lines.

Wouldn't be so bad if it was inside, but outside like that it really is that bad! The heat and humidity here is terrible, dunno how anyone can just stand around in it like that!

Is public gambling even allowed over there?

pssh for a switch, I was in line this morning for One Piece 20th anniversary shirts and got them =p.

Anyway, people would be serious pissed of, if you are number 11 in line and don't get a switch while number 3475 in line gets one XD.
