Forums - Gaming Discussion - Eos could be the new Ivalice in Final Fantasy

Many Final Fantasy fans are familiar with Ivalice. The world where many games are set in with a lot of lore. Tactics,Vagrant Story,FF12. Some great games in a great setting. I think they can do the same with Eos from Final Fantasy XV. No matter how you feel about FFXV it's no doubt there is a lot we didn't get in that game we could have.  We never got to fully explore som areas. Some we don't get to go to at all. There is also a lot of talk of wars and kings from long ago. In fact in a DLC mission You fight Gilgamesh aka the Blade Master who speaks of great the war that happened 2000 years ago he fought in and died.  He  mentions the land looks different now than it did then..which is kinda expected of course but they could add on to that in another game. His character could be an important part in another game set in the past.

Maybe take Final Fantasy 16 and set it 2000 years in the past and we get to explore more of this world and areas we did in XV only they look vastly different with different towns from back then, maybe even massive castles as we see ruins everywhere in XV. They could also set  a game far in the future where Noctis is just a myth/legend much like the Kings of old in XV. Now it doesn't have to be mainline. Another tactics? Another Vagrant Story like game? Anything really.  Final Fantasy VII got many spinoffs on PS2,PSP and other platforms. No XV doesn't have the same love for it VII got but if XIII got 3 games then why not XV but much more broad similar to Ivalice. Last option is fo wha Trails of Cold Steel does and tell a story from people in the opposing land.

Remember when every Final Fantasy game was a new world and new story? Then Final Fantasy 7 came along and they milked that cow to death. Why not make a new series and set of sequels? Because the name = $$ and they can just slap it on anything and add some chocobos and you got a Final Fantasy. Sorry to rant, just pissed off that Sakaguchi is making mobile games while Square Enix has been making mediocre games for the last 16 years.

Pretty sure that 8, 9 & even 10 (despite the poor attempts to relate it to the world of 7) all had new worlds and stories. Sure, 7 was the start of the revisiting worlds and milking it to death trend. But it certainly didn't prevent them from making new worlds.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised they left the world of FF9 a standalone. There was a lot there they could have used for spinoff/sequels/movies or whatever else, yet it seems to be one of the more overlooked FFs. Too bad as well, since it was such a fantastic game and world to explore.

100% agree with your last sentence though. Really sucks how bad Square Enix is compared to what Squaresoft was. And the decline of Sakaguchi's career really is disappointing.

Yes sorry, 8 and 9 were new worlds and didnt have sequels and they didnt need them, so I appreciate that. I liked 12 for the most part but I had no idea what was going on in that game? Was it becuase I never played Tactics or jus bad storytelling? Anyway, that's why I would rather have a new game with a new setting everytime.

I really enjoyed FFXV. But I guess it is cool and edgy to hate it so I guess I will move along.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

It's about time they make a Final Fantasy game in that world.

Ivalice is my perfect world for a game... THE LORE!... Well Eos is amazing too but not for a FF16 Prequel...

Your shitposting is invalid.

XV's world is pretty but I didn't really feel curious about the culture or what the people or world is like. Ivalice is well thought out and very rich with lore and imagination. I didn't get that with XV's world. Felt like our world + magic. It was kinda boring, imo.

I'd love more Ivalice though. Also the world of FFX, FF7, and FF9 were very interesting. I'd like to see another story in those worlds. I'm also nostalgic for the world of FF3 (not 6 as 3, but real 3). But yeah, idk the worlds of 7, 9, and 10 have more potential imo. And no I'm not counting X-2 and all the FF7 sequels and prequels

I have yet to play FF XV, but I like the idea of exploring more of the various FF worlds more. Especially if it net's us a new FF Tactics!
