I think they took a gander at PuB and thought D2 would manage the same.

It's locked to Battlenet though so no, I don't expect it to sell a lot since it's ignoring the millions that are over on Steam as well as GoG.

Oh, I didn't realise it wasn't coming to steam.

It's pubbed by Activision, so they want to avoid paying Steam 30%, but in doing so they ignore Steam and GoG entirely in favor of their partner, Blizzard's user base. WoW has been in a steep decline over the years and Overwatch is doing well, Hearthstone is F2P so whatever it makes is expected. Heroes is doing way worse to LoL and DIablo III has been out since 2012 so it's already made it's money and SCII's last expansion as 2015 and will have made all it could possibly earn.

Non dedicated servers while sporting a P2P network isn't going to win many over on PC. It certainly hasn't for Ubisoft's For honor game.

The biggest holiday game 2 million on consoles...
I really need to know the thinking patterns of gaming analysts. My cat would make better predictions.

This is digital only prediciton.

3 million downloads on PC in 3 months?

That would be huge.

More like 2 months. Destiny 2 only releases on consoles Sept 6th. It releases on PC Oct. 24th.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Oh, so Activision games don't usually release om Steam? I seldom use steam, so I was unaware.

Playerunknown did that in 4 months. Honestly wouldn't be too surprising.

No, they still release games on Steam. They didn't want to pay the 30% cut with Destiny 2 and they want to control how it's bought and run, so slapping it on their partners client semmed like a good idea to them (it'll backfire in the longrun though).

They're not releasing it on Steam, so that's probably not happening xD

Considering the sheer sizer of Steam's userbase vs Battle.net's, it'll be fun to watch Activision trying to excuse the stupid decision.

PuB sold that much because it was a game type that wasn't being markted to until recent years. PuB came around and it was exactly what people wanted from a BR game and of course the market spoke. I don't see many clamoring for a console style MMO corridor shooter experience over on B.net though.

Yes but Overwatch has like what, 30 million total players? Most of those sales were probably PC.
