I doubt that, Rocket League has sold 10.5m across all platforms (as of march 2017), I don't see it reaching 18m+ on PS4 alone ever, especially considering many got it free with PS+.

That's 18m users on the leaderboard I presume?  Rocket league already has 33m active players and growing rapidly.  Ps4 also the most active platform.  It has a chance.

No. In terms of Next generation games, the popularity is more like :

1. GTA V 2. Black Ops 3 3. Destiny 4. Overwatch

I think? Black Ops 3, Destiny, and Overwatch all have similar player numbers.

You said Black Ops 3 has 30 million players on just PS4? That's amazing. Destiny and Overwatch both have about 30 million total registered.

25 million players. Which is different to 25 million copies sold. Same for the reported sales of Overwatch and Destiny. If I'm not mistaken, they also said 30 million 'players' which presumably includes internet cafes and multiple accounts on the same game etc.

(I think there was 4 Destiny accounts on my single PS4 copy for example).

Still, incredible numbers. 

That's a 7th gen port though... so offically, it doesn't count.

It's a great multiplayer game. Well deserved.

At least it's my favorite Call of Duty game from this generation (so far). But I think that GTA V will surpass BO3 sooner than later.

   Overwatch is very popular, but its market penetration is not nearly on the level other other games listed. What it has going for it is the fact its smaller userbase plays the game alot. So total play hours Overwatch may be competitve, sales? Nope.
