Tekken 7 sales on PS4 deliver knockout blow to Xbox One and PC - report

Tekken 7 sales figures are in, and it looks like Bandai Namco Games' latest fighter has drummed up most of its support on PS4. Find out how well the game performed across the board below.

Tekken 7 sales declare PS4 the winner

Fighting game sequel Tekken 7 sold just over 530,000 units during its first week at retail, according to data accumulated by VGChartz.

The site claims that approximately 530,061 copies of Bandai Namco Games’ brawler were sold in North America and Europe for the week ended June 3. Furthermore, the PlayStation 4 version of Tekken 7 accounted for a massive 433,359 units sold, which equates to around 82 percent. Xbox One followed with 91,255 units sold (17 percent) and Windows PC just 1 percent with 5,447 copies shifted.

VGChartz also offers a breakdown of regions, with Tekken 7 reportedly selling the most copies in the U.S., with 216,079 units shifted. Europe is as follows: 27,116 (UK), 33,823 (Germany), 25,841 (France), making for an estimated total of 163,432 copies sold.

Tekken 7 was released on June 2 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. The latest entry in the venerable fighting game series focuses on the conclusion to the long-running Mishima family feud, which sees Heihachi and Kazuya locked in one last epic power struggle. The game introduces a number of new faces into the mix, such as Josie, Katarina, Gigas, and Claudio, while bringing back staples including Paul, King, Nina, Law, and Jin.

In terms of gameplay, Tekken 7 shakes things up with the expansion of the Rage system, allowing players to execute powerful Rage Arts and Rage Drive attacks, which can be used to quickly turn the tide of battle. Meanwhile, the Power Crush allows you to perform an attack while simultaneously being hit by your opponent at no loss of momentum to character.

Tekken 7 will receive its first major DLC update this summer in the shape of the fan-favorite Tekken Bowl mode, along with a new costume pack. Meanwhile, Namco recently patched the game to improve online Ranked matches.

all right, vgchartz is back on the map

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

You know it did badly on Xbox One when Ultra Street Fighter II a 20+ year port priced at $40 which released on Switch with a 4 million install base had better 1st week sales than it.

Kind of makes you think how well a Switch version could of done even if it was severely downgraded compared to the other versions.

The PS4 is the lead platform for players as well as Japanese developers. The result is then that the clear majority of Tekken fans on this console plays, nice to see.

Too many big and good games this year on PS4, we need help and more lifetime! Let's see when I have the time for Tekken 7. Today, Bandai Namco has announced more and more games for PS4. Someday, maybe Tekken Tag Tournament 3 appears, but the story games (main parts, T1-7) are better for me because of the story :) Gratulation, Tekken! How is the PlayStation VR mode?

Tekken 1,2,3,4,5,5-Dark Resurrection where all only on playstation (1,2,psp) right?
Tekken 6 was the first time it appeared on a xbox (the 360).
Also Tekken 7 is the first time its on PC?

So it makes sense... that where its a established franchise with a fanbase, it sells more.

I guess there are just some multiplats (that started on playstation) franchises that resonate a lot more for PlayStation, much like final fantasy.

Well PSU just lost all credibility, who quotes VGC numbers

Vgchartz getting a nice mention. We did it baby!!

Tekken 7 sales are ridiculously biased towards ps4. SFV would have been the same and it's why if that game had an XB1 port it wouldn't have made it a success.

I'm part of the 1%. Hell yeah!

well that's 1% of the physical sales of the game, we know that most PC gamers will buy their games digitally, heck most of my friends don't even have a dvd/blu ray drive on their PC setup anymore because of digital downloads being so dominant in the market.
