I think 40 million is a nice good target. Would mean a massive increase from the previous gen.

No, it wouldn't. That would be a failure.

There's no way the Nintendo Switch will sell less than the 3DS.

Very nice, personally I'd like to see the switch supported for 12 years like the gameboy. I don't like purchasing consoles every 4-5 years.

A failure? Making a comeback after your worst generation by far to sell 3 times as much is a failure? I think your expectations are a bit high there.

Switch is a portable console and the successor to the 3DS, so selling 33% less than the 3DS would be a disaster.

Your expectations are far too low. Pokémon alone has around 15 to 20 million active fans and yet you expect only 40 million people to buy a Switch? Lol...

I expect the Switch in its current form to do ~55-60 million.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Switch is the successor to both the Wii U and the 3DS, so 40m wouldn't be three times as much, it would be half as much. That would be a failure with no ifs and no buts.

Fortunately, crossing the 40m mark will be a piece of cake for Switch. I expect a mix between the Wii and DS sales curves, so a strong start with a long sustained peak. Switch is going to sell more than 100m units.

I don't think the Switch is a successor to the 3DS just because it has portable capabilities. And to expect it to outsell the Wii U and 3DS is a bit mad if you ask me. But hey I'm sure one of these threads will be bumped in a few years or so.

It's the successor to the 3DS because Nintendo treats it like that.

There's nothing mad about expecting it to outsell the Wii U and 3DS combined. This is similar to the PS3 vs. PS4 scenario. Pretty much everything favors the PS4, as is the case in regards to Switch vs. Wii U and 3DS, so madness is to expect it to sell less.

But do they? Maybe if they stopped supporting it, and they literally released a new 2ds XL model. They're going to support it "into 2018 and beyond" so no, I really don't consider it a 3DS successor.

Sony's not gonna release a super duper slim PS3 (super slim is aleeady taken sigh) after PS4 comes out  especially in the same year and the same with MS, why? Because they have their successors out.

NES-101 was released after the SNES was out.

SNS-101 was released after the Nintendo 64 was out.

Game Boy Micro was released after the Nintendo DS was out.

Wii Mini was released after the Wii U was out.

EDIT: Hell, even Sony's done it. PS one was released after the PS2.

Ninty said that the ds would not replace the GBA and realesed the GB micro a year after the DS.

If it hits 50M, that is already really good, and even better if more
