Nah the first is the weakest. It's actually so unmemorable, and I've seen it twice.
You have the boring origin story we already know, an interesting side character who gets shelved in Scarecrow, then Liam Nesson playing Ras Al' Ghul who just can't compare to the later villians. It sets up the second film nicely at the end though.
I like the second movie the most because although Ledger puts on a powerful performance, it also has the most interesting storyline, villians, best scenes in the trilogy- (bank heist, interrogation, dinner scene, ending) and some of the most memorable quotes.
Also please, his performance is far from hammy. It's a towering performance. Done before a lot? What other super villain even comes close?
