Oh no, I don't deny that some of the games are emulations and some are visually not so demanding indie-games. But you let it look like it was said in that way by the DF-guy, which wasn't the case. Instead he was actually impressed with the number of games with high framerates. If you want to add something like that for some of these games it isn't that much of a feat, then you should articulate that opinion as your own, not as the opinion of someone who said actually something else.

I quoted the factual part of what he said and simply left off the opinion part.  The factual part is neutral and allows people to form their own opinion.

That most of these games are ports or emulated games from other systems is relevant.  I don't know why you would think that it is not.  That they are 60fps (or not) really has nothing to do with Nintendo.  That some people in this thread are giving Nintendo credit really isn't disputable--just scroll up if you don't believe me.  Is that a big deal?  No, but it's still incorrect.

Why do you think it's downplaying to correct something that is incorrect?  Why would you want to obscure and discredit something that is true?

I'm going to ask you a question here and I really want a straight answer:  is it true or false that a lot of the games on that list are emulated classics?

I already answered your quesiton in the part you quoted: "Oh no, I don't deny that some of the games are emulations and some are visually not so demanding indie-games." So it's true. That is not the point at all. I never said that it is irrelevant that some are emulations, that part you made up.

But answer my question: If you state facts, why quote at all? Why not just state the fact? Why hide behind someone else by quoting something you easily could state yourself? And then actually misquote him.

Idk it depends on the game. To be honest the difference between 1080p and 720p, 60fps and 30fps aren't noticeable to me. I'd probably notice a difference in higher resolution more than higher frame rate.

Seriously, what are you even talking about?  My quote was word for word.

And your problem is that there are quotation marks?  That's the big problem you have?  Like I said, maybe you should analyze yourself for being defensive over a true statement while completely disregarding all the untrue statements in this thread and the selective quoting of the OP.

Well? Most of these games are either Wii U games running at slightly higher resolutions or simple indies or classic arcade games. Nothing wrong with celebrating good frame rate but it's not exactly an accomplishment either.

In *most* video game genres, framerate is always better.

I would go so far as to say all game genres benefit greatly from 60 FPS.
Even including visual novels.
The smoothness and responsiveness offered by a higher framerate should not be dismissed.

If you play the Splatoon 2 Splatfest World Premiere, go through the 60FPS intro and into the 30FPS hub world...
Well lets just say I had to spend a few minutes to adjust to such an environment.
I got a bit sick from that.

I'm one of those people that got to really see just how much Framerate can make a difference when I got to PC. But I can see someone for instance playing a high budget strategy game at 30fps 4k ultra vs blah blah blah 60fps.

So whats that, 3 games? LOL still got it lads.

Jokes guys i like my switch.

I really wish adaptive resolution with rock solid framerate would became a norm.
That goes to Nintendo as well with Breath of the Wild or 4 Player Mario Kart 8, but hats off for mostly going for framerate.

"... a lot of these are simply emulated classics, of course ..."

So the thread title is wrong then - it's not really 80% of Switch titles.

60+ FPS please..... I don't care which platform it's on....

Most people here will take 60 FPS. Most gamers in general will take resolution. For me it depends on the game.

first part true, second part partly true however the reason for that is usually a lack of understanding of what they are trading for the better resolution and if properly informed I think the majority would also pick 60 FPS.
