Forums - Gaming Discussion - Over 80% of all Nintendo Switch titles released thus far run at 60 FPS

Do you prefer developers to target?

Locked 1080P with dynamic framerate 32 12.03%

Locked 60 FPS with dynamic resolution 234 87.97%

Total:266

Nice. Even as a PC gamer, higher framerate is what I want.

For example, I have The Witcher 3 installed both at work and at home. At work I have a monster PC with a GTX1080, 64GB of RAM, and what not, and of course it can max the living shit out of the game without effort.

At home I have a more modest setup for now that can't handle the game the same, so I lower the overall settings and resolution to achieve 60fps. I'd rather gouge my eyes out instead of playing at 30fps.

It's good that Nintendo understands what is important regarding performance.

That's quite impressive.

When 80-90 percent of your games are year+ old ports and remastereds of games available on older hardware I would hope so.

There was just a YongYea just had a youtube video on this, basically saying that the powerful systems (Pro/X) are going to waste because the industry in general is just using them to push more resolution and somehow in 2017 now getting 60 fps lock on most of their titles. I kind of agree with him on this point that framerate should supersede resolution.

60 fps all the way!

And nice! Glad a "handheld" that can achieve this is on the market.

This has nothing to do with the hardware and everything to do with the game design decisions. And possibly Nintendo pressuring devs to prioritize 60 fps.

Personally I'd rather have a choice but with consoles that ain't happening. And with reasonable...reason.

Where is the option for non realistic graphics so that it can hit both 60 fps and 1080p? Resolution and fps don't have to be sacrified if gamers would just be content with games not looking like boring real life. This is why Nintendo has so many games hitting those marks. And guess what? They are an absolute blast to play.

Good on Nintendo!

Pocky Lover Boy!

its easier to market pretty visuals than smoother framerate.

It's understandable that developers would want people to experience their games with the visual fidelity they worked so hard to accomplish, but it would be even better if they added the choice to play the game in 60fps. At least on consoles anyway.

With that being said. I don't mind 30fps. If I did then I would have upgraded my PC sooner rather than later.

I also hope that trend continues on the Switch to bring the cost development down and thus bring more games to the system.

I'm still not sure why several posts in this thread are giving credit to Nintendo for games that were on other systems first but it sure is interesting to watch.

Nintendo games focus on game play over graphics, so 60fps is often required for platformers, racing games etc.. Notable exception is Zelda botw,
