Forums - Sony Discussion - I took a video of my PSN download speeds.

Decided to make a video about this to share my own personal experience with PSN. I've been toying with the idea for a while, you're welcome to post your own video of your experience with Steam/PSN/XBL.

Just a link because I'm not sure how to embed.

For those too lazy to open, I have a 250m/bit down & 100m/bit up connection from Comcast. I regularly am maxing my connection out on PSN (and beyond) and the only time I see any kind of hit taken is when downloading multiple things or when I have Spotify running in the background.

Parts of the video you can see that it's pushing data to me faster than what Comcast advertises. At some points the game is downloaded in 30 MegaBYTE chunks.

You're in luck then, I never manage to make PSN work properly, even with cable and anything from 100Mbit (that I have now) and up to 500Mbit (that I had before).

Port forwarding, manual DNS, static IP. Maybe a few other things, would have to go poke around. And most definitely an Ethernet cable. Haven't tried wifi on my Pro so maybe that's been rectified

Wow.... PSN is a lot faster then I thought.

I thought it was pretty much capped at 5 Megabytes a second for downloads.

Wifi is useless, I have yet to live anywhere where the wifi is stable enough to be my main connection, from TV's to consoles and PC's.

I rarely have any issues with the PSN downloads speeds. I only have 20Mbit of download speed and so far is faithful on the PS4. I was downloading a game last Saturday, and I noticed that the speed was actually faster than normal (25-30 Mbit).

Btw, should I upgrade my internet speed for online gaming? I have 20Mbit down and 1Mbit up (80 ping average).

I don't know what is the issue, maybe something with the servers but I had my Xbox 360/PS3 hooked up next to each other and my PS3 was so slow I had to use an cable while my X360 was fine, now I have the same issue with PS4, I had to put my cable in my PS4 because it was to slow. (downloading until dawn still took me almost 2 hours).

My laptop was updating Origin at 84 kb/s today, my ps4 doesn't fare much better. Somehow wifi hates my house, except my children seem to stream videos just fine on the iPad and GamePad. A 13GB patch for Siberia 3 took 2 days. My wifi still beats VGChartz servers though.

I'll tag for later. Haven't seen the video yet. I'll try to post mine tomorrow when I wake up.

i have a 18 mb connection speed and yes the downloads take long but I am not in a rush to play. I usually start downloads the night and by the next day when I get home from work the game is ready to be played.
