FF12 is essentially ATB though. Gameplay is really not that much different except you could roam freely and attacks could occur similtaneously.

I dont get the changing FFs style idea either. What style was exactly changed?

Very true and as the ATB is a FF stable, it's the reason why I like FFX less than FF12, heck combat in FFX-2 is better than X in my view. But the roam freely and all that was enough for people for it to be considered different. Again, I do too. It doesn't quite feel as FF like as maybe it should but then what FF feels like is dependent on your thoughts really. Yet I still love FF12 as a superb game in it's own right.

The style was that of Ivalice stuff, I mean the characters and designs helped sway that. Mention of Ivalice. Summons not being in anyway named as their traditional names... stuff like that.

Hmm, pie.

I am not a big fan of XII.

FFVI: You start of with Terra and I almost felt like crying walking with biggs and wedge trough the snow and that amazing theme....And the whole game was fantastic for me.

FFVII: Again amazing opening, for the opening bombing mission is a 10/10 but after that mission it never went back to being that great overal still a great experience.

FFVIII: Again amazing opening + music combo, and I really enjoyed the military school + the first mission , the schools fighting each other mission and so on...

FFIX: Really liked the old school atmosphere and I was hooked from the first hour, loved vivi already after 10 minutes and was heartbroken when someone got petrified in the forest.  Though equipping weapons, etc for learning skills was addicting card game was fun, chocographis I enjoyed..

FFX: Was not hooked the first ten minutes because of the futuristic style at but Auron comes on the scene and bam I got hooked and while the game was linear it did not felt that way, I enjoyed learning about the world going from besaid to kilika village, and learn more and more about the world...

All of this games have in common that I still can hum most of the themes and from FFX I can still most of the lyrics of Suteke da ne...

I got FFXII on launch day the only one I got on launchday and it did not had that opening amazing experience like the others had imo.  Vaan felt like a turd and now I just expect he will a turd in HD. Balthier is the only one I liked but I would not even put him in my top ten FF characters. The gameplay was new and alright but I wasn't to big a fan of it. The music hardly effected me, I felt like the game had some 8/10 moment but most of the time it was a 6/10 and it became the only FF game (until then) where I finished the game and did not care anymore about the sidequests.

Wasn't much of a fan of the game when it released on the PS2, so I doubt this remaster will change my mind much. I am a collector of the series though, so I did pick up a copy.

Picking up tomorrow.
Have got the international version on PC, had to watch a 16min youtube vid to fully understand the changes, there is a lot. The reviewers mention barely anything.

I'm mildly interested in it, but at 40GB of space to take up for a game like this I probably won't get it. Still got a 500GB PS4.

It's still as great as I remember. I really loved the locations and the art style and the music and those things aren't going to get worse with age so I'm having heaps of fun. And the changes to the skill/job system is keeping it fresh enough as well.

decline how?

You're right, FF13 was more enjoyable than 12. But I think what he means is that FF12 was the first FF game of the current trend of FF games being noticeably worse than mostly everything before it in the franchise. FF12-15 have not been as good as FF4-X. Mostly due to the worse battle systems, the heavy reduction in story, and the overall dullness of the experience with all the walking and fighting/grindyness. The world's of the older Final Fantasy games were much richer and more interesting. FF12 and onward were big, empty, and boring.

I also prefer FFXIII tbh. Although it was far from stellar, meh at best, I enjoyed the combat system so I had fun at times. FFXII was just a boring and dull experience all the way. Open world, yep, but empty and not fun to travel in. Story and characters were just... awful, way two-dimensional. I think it's a hate-or-love game though, I think it's the worst mainline FF game (FFXV is close though).

Okay... so this isn't quite what I expected.

First, looks great, sounds great with the new redone soundtrack but I expected it to have more as a revamped edition. For one, it only has the International Licence boards. There is no way to switch back to the standard version. So while FFX and X-2 were 2 games in 1 with improvements and choices. This version seems to just be the 'International' version. I know they added that trial and speed modes but still, couldn't include the standard licence boards for people that want that version? Weird exclusion. Still great so far though (even if I did pick Vann to be a mace guy then realised the weapon shop doesn't sell maces :P).

Hmm, pie.

Ah, as expected, it is still great!

I am tempted by the pretty Steelbook edition, but well-aware I would prefer to play something completely new for now, so this will have to wait a little bit.

...getting Crash remake today, it is NEW ENOUGH

Save yourself a tenner and get the standard, it has a reversible cover. :P
