Considering the crisis on the pc market I can see many pc gamers buy the Xbox One X if it trully runs games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 at 4k60fps.

What crisis?

Yep, but lifetime number won't be much higher than 50M.

Year o think it should do over 50million.

That's a given. I also think it will do better than 60M.

I dont' get why people forecast numbers from the X1 (and also for the PS4, a lot of guys here think it won't do 100M) that would basically only work if sales of those systems took a nosedive last year with no reasonable explanation. And I mean, a huge nosedive, way more than the Wii did after 2012, more than what a console does when a sucessor arrives.

It's a type of prediction that should not be posted on a salwes website where most posters make better guesses than the so-called "professional analysists".

Yes, it should do 50 million with relative ease.

Hmm, can we get some charts in here comparing it's yoy sales with last year, or the year before?

According to vgchartz it moved 8.6m in 2015, and 8.3m in 2016 with 2 million in sales so far this year, (although it's apparently slightly over-tracked). It seems to be tracking well against previous years, but the slow months of June-August are going to be very interesting to see how it maintains momentum, and then it's a little unpredictable around the holiday period, where it typically sells through around 50% of its yearly sales.

Very rough estimate- another 6.2 million this year, 7.4 million in 2018 and around 7m in 2019, with price cuts more first party games and Xbox One X, it should easily cross 50 million. However, can it cross 60 million? I think that's a much better question.

I think overall, given the disasterous reveal, hardware decisions and the lack of first party games, it's doing quite well. It bodes well for the brand. It's nowhere near the xbox360 levels of success and it won't match the lofty internal expectations of MS. Undoubtably they will see this entire generation as a missed opoorunity. That said, they will still have a strong foundation to build on heading in to the next generation, where I expect them to be far, far more competitive with Sony.

I guess it depends on how well MS will support it with worthwhile games. It SHOULD be able to exceed 50m, but only if supported properly

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The system currently stands at 29 million according to VGChartz numbers, after 3 and a half years on the market.

Do you think it will end up selling more than 50 million lifetime, and why/why not?

That depends on the number of years it will stay on the market. But there are a few very likely facts.

1) It will sell less than X360, PS3, or half of PS4, but more than Original Xbox and Gamecube combined.

2) If it continues to sell at current pace, XB1 and XBX combined will have sold between 61 and 68 million by 2020 (roughly doubling the current number)

3) This will be somewhat below half of the PS4 (and PS4pro) numbers estimated to have sold between 124 and 136 million by 2020

XB1 sales estimates by the end of each year

By the end of 2017: Between 36 and 42 million
By the end of 2018: Between 47 and 51 million
By the end of 2019: Between 56 and 61 million
By the end of 2020: Between 61 and 68 million

So it should pass the 50 million mark between late 2018 and early 2019, and 60 million mark between late 2019 and early 2020.
