"Week of release Blu-rays = same price as DVD... how is it about price?"

New releases on BD and DVD are usually this close in the U.S;
The Narrows BD $26.49
The Narrows DVD $22.99
Grumpy Old Men / Grumpier Old Men (Comedy Double Feature) BD $14.49
DVD $13.49

And, here is an example where BD can be cheaper;
Staten Island BD $15.49
Staten Island DVD $17.49

I've been collecting films for a long time, and went throuh all the Laser Disc and DVD prices from their beginnings. BD prices are relevent to what they were around the same ages of those formats. People then too complained endlessly about how expensive DVDs were. The thing is tho, prices of BDs seem to be comming down faster and being release much faster, aslo.

TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.

MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD

Here are the numbers for week ending 03/21/2010

Blu-ray climbed back up into the respectable range,  13:87 was the ratio for this week.

Top 20 ratio was 20:80.  Not a great week but with the top 2 movies not being heavy Blu-ray titles kinda hurt both ratios.  Although I was surprised at The Princess and the Frog for doing 22%,  not surprised at New Moon only pulling in 17%,  it was a little higher than I predicted but still a poor showing.

Not bad sales for BD in tough times. This holiday season comming will be very big for BD.

Some awesome films to check out on BD;

Black Dynamite
INK
Sleep Dealer
Franklyn

The Blu-ray LOTR trilogy will own all! That will be interesting to see.

I wonder if in 2011 we'll start seeing regular 20-25% Blu ray marketshare weeks.

Here are the numbers for week ending 03/28/2010

Much better week for Blu-ray pulling in a ratio of 16:84

Top 20 Blu-ray vs DVD ratio was better than last weeks, pulling in a 26:74

Here are the numbers for Week Ending 4/4/2010

Blu-ray had a bad week again only pulling in a ratio of 12:88.   Next week should be better with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Boxset coming out.

Top 20 Blu-ray Ratio is an abysmal 14:86,  barely beating out the total ratio.

Ive kinda decided that from now on, if the total Blu-ray ratio isnt higher that 15% or the Top 20 Blu-ray Ratio isnt higher the 25%, than the week is horrible for Blu-ray. With as long as Blu-ray has been on the market it should be pulling these numbers in on a weekly basis, regardless of the titles being released at the time. We are at the point in Blu-rays life cycle that the big blockbuster releases should be putting Blu-ray in the 25% range for Total Blu-ray Ratio.

Blu-ray came at a bad time, recession and all so i am only slightly disappointed in these numbers.
