A long long time in the past, there used to be a very good game collection feature on this very website.. and then, it stopped being good... and SINCE then, I have been looking a service that will MAKE GAME TRACKING GREAT AGAIN.

...but I haven't been looking very actively, so I just ended up with gamefaqs, which hosts an extensive database, but is not very easy to use (IMO). A google search will suggest many other services, but considering the time investment required to evaluate one or two, I'd just rather ask around here. Important features:

  • A visual representation of my collection.
  • Easy adding/removal.
  • Extensive database, obscure Japanese-1000-copy-Saturn game level extensive.
  • Wishlist.

Darkadia is without a doubt, the best free game collection tracker out there. The only thing, it doesn't have the most extensive database. It'll cover you for 99% of everything else though.

It also fills the other 3 requirements. I have a link to mine in my signature.

Backloggery is cool for it's completionist aspect, but it's by far the most tedious to use.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Very easy to use.

Oh and for wishlist

I just use Google Docs and have a spreadsheet for my own. Its easy to know the title of a game I purchased and type it in the sheet then share. (see sig)

I could take it a step further and add images as well if desired. But textual names is good for me.

What I use.

RF Generation. Not a looker but a great site for collections. Every game is user submitted so even if the game is not there you just submit it. Oh and yes they have really obscure stuff. Label variations and all. You can also back up your collection to your PC. Easy to add and remove. Does have a wishlist.

A pen and paper.

Tellico...not only for videogames, but also for books, music, movies, etc.

I also need to do this at some point.

Darkadia looks perfect! I will try it (as well as backloggery, of which my expectations are.. well, lower, now).

It looks super practical, I have to say - but, as said, I do love the visual aspect - it conjures good memories or thoughts about the game for me. So, perhaps some kinda spreadsheet/design combo if Darkadia for example doesn't work out.

Not a looker indeed, but, again, practical. i will consider it - also, you own Princess Crown & Policenauts, awesome!

Do Backloggery, Darkadia or VGCollect have import options for digital libraries?

So you enter your Steam-ID, GOG-name, PSN-name, XBL-name and NNID and all digital purchases get imported automatically and get synced frequentially? Then you only have to input every retail game manually.

For VGCollect, no. I'm not sure about the others.
