The user is a complete ass, but to think a multi-billion dollar company is going through all of this because of one shitposter is hilarious.

he isn't "just a shitposter" anymore since he claimed to be the source of the (pretty harmless) meme video (well, somebody else altered it)

after the president himself used his video he got to be a celebrity on r/t_d and got his own tag, lots of applause etc, which means his problematic views (probably his honest views, "I was just trolling" is nothing but a lame excuse 90% of the time) could very well influence others at that point, so the media is actually acting responsibly by asking if he wants to put his real name to what he is saying/doing

anonymously riding/fueling the internet hate-train is not a right

....so basically people with views you deem to be offensive shouldn't be allowed to be anoymous online?

The whole thing is just too funny

Do people have the right to anonymity when they're making public statements?

the problem is people being trained to be intolerant of those who disagree with them as demonstrated in this thread :

The dude who made the gif was a anti-semite racist. He deserves it. In fact he deserves more, it'd be best to just have him killed. His kind don't need to be around.

CNN was being dumb though. This bad publicity will ruin your image further, guys

Look at you, defending racists. I'm sure you'd also defend pedophiles, serial killers, serial rapists, and the like too, huh? It's not stupid to weed out these inferior forms of life. Plus, there are alternatives, they could be used to better medicine or have them work hard labor until they break

nevermind that everyone has a bit of racial bias anyway

Hmm.

OR

It's CNN level. Since it's something they're doing. And unless I missed something, Trump never threatened to posts someone's info online (which, when connected to something like that, could cost a person his job). How about instead of changing the subject to be anti-Trump, you just accept that maybe he's not the one being discussed?

Hmm.

OR

You can post like a normal human instead of a pouting child?  Holy cats, do you really need to get upset because someone said something critical of Trump?  Is he that fucking important to your ego?  What are you even talking about?  "Anti-Trump"?  Really?  You're upset because I made a quip about him being arrogant?  Wow.  That's kind of hilarious.

Upset? No.

CNN going after a guy and threatening to publish his information online was the topic. You turned it into "But Trump-" instead of addressing the topic.

I am completely anti-trump and disagree with almost every action he done since he became president but on this topic I actually agree with the thread creator. I think the re-tweet was beneath the office of the president but would not consider it promoting violence in anyway. It is also beyond ridiculous that cnn would go after the person who originally tweeted this. There a million tweets like that every day, most way worse.

If you want to do a story on why is trump spending his time reading tweets from people that have the kinds of views that other have brought up on this thread fine. There absolutely no reason to go after individuals through. When you president what you do/say is news. The idea that trump is being treated differently by the media then past president is BS. Any president who tweeted the way trump had would generate bad news stories about the tweets.

I like to be inform on what both side is thinking so I tend to switch back and forth between MSNBC and FOX news. CNN is a waste of time I found. The great thing about watching MSNBC and Fox news is it make it much easier to figure out when people actually forming there own views or just repeating what they are told to think. It amazing how often I find both with liberals and conservative people just repeating what was said on MSNBC or Fox the night before.

I one of those people that when numbers are thrown out, I go online and try to figure out what the original source for the data was and then how reliable is that source. Most the time I find the numbers thrown out by politicians of both sides come from a think tank that is completely paid for by someone with a political agenda. which to me means complete BS.

Monocle, you should change the title to "CNN attempts to control the memes of production".

CNN is pulling a Bush and is opening up an Attack on Dank Memes.

While I find the attempt from CNN to release his personal info as vile, the internet's reaction is funny as all hell.

You might want to reread my initial post.  Especially the main part, where I addressed the topic.

Seriously, if you're so into Trump that you get mad about someone making a quip that CNN and Trump are both arrogant than you need to step back or seek help.  If you're saying that Trump has nothing to do with this topic then that's just downright silly.  It would also make you a complete hypocrite, as you said nothing to the person to whom I was replying, who took the topic in that direction in the first place.

Because Trump's camp over at their subreddit is CLEARLY completely innocent of this type of behavior

Oh wait
