Forums - Politics Discussion - CNN reddit situation- Blackmailed user wrong person? BUZZFEED exposing CNN?!

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/04/politics/kfile-reddit-user-trump-tweet/index.html

We all remember Trump's WWE tweet, right? Regardless of whether you thought it was childish to post (or perfectly fine), I believe it's safe to say it was actually humorous. I got a decent chuckle out of it.

Anyways, it seems like CNN has gone haywire and believe this is a cryptic message that he's promoting violence. They've gone ahead and tracked the reddit user who created the post. After threatening to reveal his identity, the user made an apology and asked to stay anonymous due to fears of his family being harmed.

I don't see how this is acceptable by any means. Is this how a professional news station actually spends its time now? I stopped looking at the news in general, and this honestly isn't convincing me to return.

(Note- cut any "dae left is evull damn leeberals" statements please. You aren't smart or 'woke' by generalizing a large group of people and creating a circlejerk)

I had hoped people weren't gonna support something like this just because it's against someone they don't like but then complain if it happens to someone they do like, because that's ultimately the door that will be opened with something like this. If people wanna go against Trump and his supporters that's fine and there are absolutely reasons to do so but if the means of fighting back become questionable like this then that just makes it worse for everyone, nobody's information should be held hostage.

Edit: I've edited this comment to more accurately portray what I meant to say at the time, as it was poorly written.

Legitimately disgusting.

"FUCK, Trump posted a funny at us!"
"I know, let's find the guy who made the gif hand corner him in real life! We'll threaten to Ron him unless he apologizes for the whole thing!"

I wonder how many of the people who criticized trump for 'promoting violence towards the media' with that tweet are going to also criticize CNN for now 'promoting violence' towards someone who made a gif.

Probably not many i'm guessing since all some people seem to care about is being against Trump no matter what despite how hypocritical it may be.

I've learned before he took place in office that some people view life in a black/white manner. Can't tell you how many times I've been called a Trumptard for defending him and being called an SJW liberal for criticizing him. I suppose it's hard for certain human beings to realize life is filled with grays and typically doesn't stick to the end of the black/white spectrum.

Interesting enough, the user seems to have a history of being...well, unpleasant. Suppose it's the typical stuff you'd find from someone who enjoys a subreddit called The_Donald.

Thankfully, this has started to trend on Reddit and everyone is setting aside differences to point out the terrible nature of CNN. Let's hope they lose subscribers from this.

I don't have any problem except for the "he's promised to be a good boy but we'll publish his info if he's not".  I see no reason for that kind of threat.  Either they publish it right now or they don't.  Trying to control someone like that is Trump levels of arrogance.

Otherwise, it looks like he was being a troll who thought he was untouchable because internet so I don't have much sympathy for him.

I wonder how many people who don't hold Trump accountable for his behavior are going to be outraged over this.  Probably a lot.

Hmm.

OR

It's CNN level. Since it's something they're doing. And unless I missed something, Trump never threatened to posts someone's info online (which, when connected to something like that, could cost a person his job). How about instead of changing the subject to be anti-Trump, you just accept that maybe he's not the one being discussed?

Trump has been promoting violence long before this tweet. Pinning it on this one incident is silly.

The user is a complete ass, but to think a multi-billion dollar company is going through all of this because of one shitposter is hilarious.

You can post like a normal human instead of a pouting child?  Holy cats, do you really need to get upset because someone said something critical of Trump?  Is he that fucking important to your ego?  What are you even talking about?  "Anti-Trump"?  Really?  You're upset because I made a quip about him being arrogant?  Wow.  That's kind of hilarious.

Isn't the guy who did the gif an anti-semite and a racist? aren't the guys who exposed him getting death threats too
