Ogre Battle is not turn based. It's real time, similar to Crusader Kings.

Also, if you're including Ogre Battle, Crusader Kings 2 should be on the list too, especially considering it's the top strategy game around right now.

Also, Disgaea.

Yea in the op I made a side note stating it was referring to Tactics Ogre of the Ogre Battle series.  I should have just put Tactics Ogre in there instead.  I also probably should have included FF Tactics considering some people were a little upset that it wasn't included.

Around the Network

Haha, do a part 2 and base it around games like Tactics Ogre, FF Tactics, FF Tactics Advance, Disgaea, Jeanne D'Arc, and others that are RPGs with strong strategy elements.

Fire Emblem is more of a strategy game with strong RPG elements. So while they're all "strategy RPGs" there's a distinction.

I am not saying Fire Emblem has a weaker story or characters (Fire Emblem games generally have stronger stories than the other mentioned franchises), what I am saying is from a mechanical POV, FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre are primarily RPGs in their core gameplay. Fire Emblem's strategy game mechanics dominate over the RPG mechanics. For example (but not limited to this): unit perma-death is a staple of strategy gameplay, where reviving dead characters is an RPG mechanic.
