Forums - PC Discussion - Logitech G810 Keyboard review

hey guys a quick and dirty review of the Logitech G810 gaming keyboard with Romer-G mechanical Switchs.

I know the hate logitech gets because of lack of customization with the keycaps etc from the hardest of hard core fans. but the switch is great.

I just picked one up today for a nice Canada day sale. instead of 180 i paid 109. Very nice deal for such a great keyboard.

There is a definiate learning curve to this board if your used to ther mechanical switches but its a quick one. you dont have to push to hard.

45g of force needed to push and about 1.5mm of actuation. If your coming from a MX cherry board they feel most like the mx slients or the mx cherry red/brown. its like between.  Maybe a silent brown is the best way to describe the feel.  Originally I wanted a corsair k70 lux but after trying out the keys in store for over an hour I was like ok the internet did me wrong. For me i like the romer Gs.

I feel like they are more stable as the key caps have the 4 inserts on the edges of the caps for the led lights to go in the middle. the cherrys have the traditional "+" switch which seem less stable in nature then having all the 4 sides for support.

so the feel is solid and the push in goes down with no wobble.

negatives:

slight  TWAANNNG to the space bar if you hammer it hard. If your not used to typing softly on this thing it will resonate. But the build is solid and very heavy. i was impressed with just plastic. there must be a steel plate inside as i tried to bend it hard at the store.

thats about it oh and no usb pass through.

the colors are cool and pictures dont do it justice but it looks amazing when you can customize each key to your own color choices.

for my mouse im sitll using my G9x as i haven't found a scroll wheel with the smoothness of it. Except the new G900 i just tried today. the G502 was a bit scratchy compared to the old g9x. so im stickign with the g9x until the g900 comes back in stock. they had 70 off it as well and they sold out.

Hope they may help someone who is looking for a board. I did so much research and lots of trial to find the one i like best. Its amazing how many different boards are out there.

So i recommend from my tons of research the K70 lux, Gpro, g810

if you are a razor fan then orange or stealth felt pretty good too.

dam the pics look terrible it looks nothing like that in person. lol. theres like no light bleed and briteness i have on low.

I am using the G910 (Orion Spark) keyboard and apart from it being alittle tough to type with due to the keys sticking out a fair bit, its an amazing gaming board. The G810 looks very similar.
Logitech makes amazing products. I am waiting for them to make a newer Gaming MMO mouse as there G600 mouse is alittle outdated.

Hmm, doesn't look too bad. The main thing I don't like about the keyboard on my desktop is that the enter button is huge while the backspace button is just the size of a regular letter key.

yeah the key caps on the 910 are definitely a love it or hate it style. but Logitech went back to the normal key caps for the 810 due to consumer feedback.

i tried the 910 and the switches are the same as mine but the caps are different. I think its ok but a bit strange.

IF you dont mind the special keycaps theres the G410 version on amazon for 69 dollars canadian. insane value. its basically a 910 without the number pad. I was tempted to get it but i wanted the numpad so g810.

i hate those reverse enterbuttons where the top part is huge and the bottom is small. kinda like an UPSIDE DOWN " L "

I alwayyyyyyyyyys miss the enter key with those boards. on the g810 the enter key and the back are about the same size and i never miss.

Okay after more usage I couldn't handle the spring resonance ping. It started giving me a headache. After much research I found out the Corsairs do the same thing with the aluminum plate.

So I bought a ducky with KBT switches and all the reviews are saying that it has no resonance and the china switches are better then CHERRY MX.

All the hardcore keyboard forums i visited have good things to say about KBT. so Im gonna give it a try.

now the 3 week delivery wait time will suck. paid alot.

the worst was when i lay my cell phone down beside the board the whole thing will resonate and ping. Im like WTF. that was the last straw i'm thinking taking it apart and putting foam filler in the case will reduce it drastically but I didnt want to mess with warranty.

Seems like you really love your keyboards. I do just fine with a 20-30 basic hp keyboard and mouse.

hahah yeah. I went with a custom ducky board now. cost me about 300 dollars canadian.

the feel is like heaven on earth. Its addicting to type. Once you go into keyboards it becomes your next obession. lol
