Forums - General Discussion - Salty losers during online play

Tagged games:

I just played a couple of online matches in Ultra Street Fighter II and something noteworthy happenend. When I won against an opponent he instantly quit the connection and refused to play the other two matches.  For those who aren't familiar with it: USFII lets you play up to three times against the same opponent if both players agree before every match. Now this time I encountered three players in a row who would leave the fight after I won the first round. One time I got reconnected to the exact same guy instantly, and guess what? He dislogged completely so he didn't have to fight against me one more time. Another one even won match one, but when I won match two he left.

It wasn't even all that bad for him, I may have won but it was close actually. Well, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I wonder why this happens. Are they so entitled that they run as far away as possible the minute they get their asses kicked so they don't have to be ashamed? Do they need this so they can still look in the mirror or what? Are they just whiny? And how much salt is necessary for such a behavior?

Has somethin like this happened to you, too? And the more important question is: Are YOU one of those people? Tell us why.

I never give up in online play. If I'm a one man team in Halo 5 losing 5-22, than so be it. Though then again, the experience isn't enjoyable to say the least.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Still, you participate and that's what makes online matches enoyable, even if it isn't for yourself. That's a great attitude, have a high five.

It is very rare I am alone, but it happens. Even if I'm playing Halo 5, usually there is someone who is willing to stick around and try to claw it back together.

I love when I meet them in Smash 4. Funny stuff.

I'm also a salty loser, but insulting/disrespecting other people because I suck was not how I got raised.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Oh gosh, playing Smash 4 online made me soooooo angry! I'm just not all that good, I guess. The reality may be brutal, but still. I simply suck at Smash 4.

How do you recognize the salty ones?

Same thing happens sometimes in ARMS, though while the opponent loses rank points for ragequitting, you don't gain any rank points from it, even when they drop right as you're about to win. I would hope they fix that but it's not common enough to be an issue.

It's irritating. They need to make harsher penalties for this kind of stuff.

Hmmm regarding USFII I'm not sure if this would result in less rage quitting. If you are forced to play three times against the same person and you've already lost match 1, you might be salty enough to not even try fighting anymore in matches 2 and 3. This would suck for both players, I guess.

I'm the opposite. I love rounds where the other team is either decimating mine or putting up a good fight because it means I don't have to hold back. I find rounds where my team is dominating to be boring.
