As amazing as Doom Eternal is, after playing nothing but for 15 days I think it's time to take a break today and revisit Age of Calamity which I never quite finished due to Doom's release.

Also my parents are coming over for Christmas and we're thinking of doing a Wii Sports Resort night for old time's sake. Lotta good memories with that one back in 2009-2011. It was one of the few games my Mum and step-Dad were ever able to really get into.

I'm hoping Nintendo's next thing is a return to the Wii Sports/Wuhu island universe with all sorts of Wii-era audio and visual stuff included.

Yeah I'd love to see Nintendo do a Wii Sports successor in the same way that Ring Fit Adventure was sort of a Wii Fit successor, I think it could do really well.

I think it basically only tracks North American accounts, so until Nintendo of Europe creates a similar program, all we have is NA-based playtime reported.

Seems Nintendo Europe is doing this playtime report thing too this year. Got this in the mail, it's all in dutch, but you should be able to figure it out.

Fire Emblem Three Houses being the most played game is no surprise. Getting through all the routes took a lot of time after all. XC 2 is a bit of a surprise, as it's only very recently that I started playing through that one again on New Game Plus. Guess time flies when you're having fun.

April through June was me working on my thesis, so that explains the lack of activity during those months. Pretty funny, considering that was during the initial Covid lockdown, so you'd think I'd have a higher playtime than usual.

For you Neanderthals using MM-DD-YYYY, 03-08 is August 3rd and not March 8th. I don't remember if there was anything unusual about that day causing my playtime to spike.

Cool! Will keep an eye out and see if I get one.

Who's the most distracting, the game or the hosts ?

Yeah Japanese show hosts are... something else. When I stayed there on student exchange years ago I found the TV endlessly fascinating haha

Here is my Year in Review:

(Most played games of last year: Super Mario Maker 2, Tales of Vespera: Definitive Edition, Final Fantasy IX, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain)

Overall, I'm pretty happy with what I played this year and the amount of hours I spent on my Switch. I'm pretty sure with 2020 and 2019 combined I'm already at about as many hours as I had on my total PS4 playtime which I started in December of 2013 ... 7 years ago

I do wish that Phoenix Wright would have climbed over FFVII, if it wasn't for the fact that you can kind of soft lock certain cases I'd probably have finished AA2 by now and maybe even AA3 which would probably put it at about as many hours as Xenoblade DE. Also wish Paper Mario got into my top 5 most played, think it's just barely under the Ace Attorney collection.

Preview for buddy mission: BOND.
So it looks like a board game à la momotaro with rpg elements and a police/investigation theme.
Would that work in japan?

Exploring more of the Metroidvania genre is honestly just making it more apparent how rare a game of Hollow Knight's quality is - I'm pretty excited for this just based on that, even if I'm not one to really "hype up" games.
