Super Mario 3D World's assets for example actually look pretty close to NSMB's assets when placed in a 2D view (where you can't take advantage of camera angels and the lighting in a 3D scape). But you still see that style in the game (unless I'm wrong and the 3D style isn't actually in the game, with the cat power up being a separate thing, but I doubt it and either way you get my point).

Oh yeah, the 3D World style is absolutely in the game.

Go to 56 seconds: You can see the 3D World logo in the top left corner. Also, the gameplay does have some pretty significant differences from the NSMB style. The camera in NSMB is completely orthographic, but 3D World uses a perspective camera. Pause at 1:00 and look at stuff near the edges of the screen. You can see the undersides, tops, and sides of blocks, which isn't something that ever happens in a 2D Mario style.

Yeah I figured it was it's own completely new style in the game - thanks for confirming. Looking back at it I shouldn't have doubted myself at all considering the background even has 3D World stages and music. I've forgotten by now I'm glad it's in because I love that game!

So yeah, overall I think Mario Odyssey is incredibly likely ... it will probably be the big E3 reveal for the game.

EVO 2019 line up

Salem's trolling of the Melee crowd right now is something of a bitter sweet situation I'd like to see both games at EVO but then the Melee community have for years done the same to other games. Going by the tournaments so far Ultimate is the bigger game, fortunately for Melee Smash has the biggest grassroots scene of any game so it'll live on through that much like Smash 64 has.

Kinda excited to see what the generation can bring us, it's been successful and incredible so far so might as well ride it hoping it can last for a LONG time !

So did it meet your expectations?

Do you mean Pokémon or the Switch generation ?

Pokémon falls into what I expected and the Switch gen so far is incredible :O If it weren't for the complete absence of rail-shooters(Light gun) games, I would have hereby declared this gen as the peak of human kind!

Yeah I'm ....

neutral on Switch

I won't get into it

But I was talking about Pokemon, so I got the answer I wanted

So I know this is a completely random thing to say, but ...

There's this gimmick in Devil May Cry 5's art that I think could be for a great meme

Back Cover

Front Cover

Now I have NO creative or artistic talent, but it would be hilarious if they replaced Dante, Nero and V with Isabelle, Luigi and Pokemon Trainer (Gen 8). The front cover would be them angrily marching together, and on the back cover instead of there being a demonic tower they are marching to it would just be them marching towards "Forecast FY2019 : 20 million"

Can we take a moment to acknowledge how fucking nuts February has been for new Switch game announcements?

In the span of a few weeks we got reveals for:

- Pokemon Sword/Shield

- Mario Maker 2

- Astral Chain

- Link's Awakening

- Hellblade

- Rune Factory 5

- Oninaki

- Claybook

And more. This Feb has been better than any E3 Nintendo has had since 2014.

That's a ton, and you didn't even mention the recent reveal that I'm most excited for, Hollow Knight: Silksong!

And the best part is that we're only two months into 2019. There's much more to come.

Just downloaded New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and...Honestly, I have no idea why people dislike this game so much. It's as close to Super Mario World as Nintendo has ever gotten EVER, and while the levels aren't AS memorable as they are in Mario World, the level designs are all pretty damn good.

Easily my favourite 2D Mario game since Yoshi's Island. One of my all-time favourite Mario Games period, and while I do agree that full price for the game - even with the Luigi expansion - is too much, I have to say I love it. Plus, now that I don't have to play it with a sideways Wiimote, I like it even more!
