I wish Nintendo fans supported Yokai Watch more. It’s the only major 3rd party franchise from Nintendo this decade and it still gets no support.

The Japanese support it plenty, it's just never really caught on in the West.

Panic Button always on point with their ports .... now, I'm even more interested in their next port ... Fallout 3 perhaps ?

I sure hope not, that would be preposterous overkill.  That would be like calling in the Army Corps of Engineers to help build a lemonade stand.

Yeah, Fallout 3 is a decade old, any old porting house could bring it to Switch without much difficulty. PB are the guys you call when you want to bring a PS4/Xbone game to Switch.

I mean, it's got nothin to do with the platform.  It's everything to do with the game.  I knew the franchise was doomed to be niche in the west from the beginning.  For one, a big part of the charm of Yokai Watch is that its about Yokai, which are part of Japanese folklore.  Which means a large part of its charm and immediate appeal on a conceptual level is culture-dependant.  The gameplay is the other half of the problem.  The battle system, in both presentation and style, strongly resembles mobile game design.  Now in Japan, this is fine and even beneficial.  Mobile gaming is more accepted among the general gamer audience.  In the west, complete opposite.  Mobile gaming is viewed widely negative, games from that space are presumed to be casual, shallow, etc.  And thus Yokai Watch's battle gameplay resembling mobile games is a big negative that damages its reputation and makes it a tough sell.  Then there's the visual design, which leans into a saturday morning anime style that's a lot less popular outside Japan.

On top of that it has the same problem Battleborn had, facing off against a rival so massive that many have written it off as a ripoff of said rival.

But it gets plenty of support in Japan.  Also, not sure what you mean by "from Nintendo", Yokai is a Level-5 property.

But all that could change.  Yokai Watch 4 is teasing a change in art style and a lot of shake ups for gameplay. If they follow through they might be able to gain traction in the West depending on what they do while also rekindling Japanese interest.

Just finished the first level of Wolfenstein II.

For those who are wondering, the install is 8.1GB, at least here in PAL Land.

First impressions, it looks and runs better than the Switch version of Doom, and the motion controls feel excellent.

I have my finger hovering over the 'order' button. Reading some mixed impressions - a few reviewers saying it's unplayable in portable mode, others saying it's best played in portable mode. Seems a very odd discrepancy. How have you played it so far? Have you noticed a major discrepancy between portable and docked mode?

I only play my Switch in docked mode personally, so I can't report on portable mode. On the TV it works fine; a bit blurry but totally playable.

I've ordered it alongside Crash anyway; I can play whichever mode suits me, both sound like solid ports. Happy to support that on Switch, especially in Wolfenstein 2's case.

I did it. After 46 matches I finally won my first tournament in simple mode. I'm in tears ;-;. Now I can stop playing.

Now you can't before having won your 50th one !!

(Hehehe ...)

Anywoo, they changed the way you get matchup with people, your basically now associated with people of your average ranking points.

Also, the next ranking system will borrow the one  from Mario Kart 8. Everyone starts at 2000 points and depending on if you win or lose (and how I guess), you'll win or lose points from your rank.

Very good! Tournament mode is now truely a ranked mode. Also shows they are continuing to make Qol improvements, so hopefully more options is in the next update. Also a nerf to trickshots would be good. Btw has anyone done that 400 rally challenge against Kamek on the airship court? I'm finding it to be impossible. =(

You have to be precise not to give him star shots, try to keep the rally on one side of the court, and pray that he doesn't hit the middle pole. If he does hit the pole try to use the slow-down, or just react quickly if you can. That challenge honestly drove me up the wall.

Yeah Wolf 2 is the kind of game I want to support on Switch too, like I did with Doom. I vote with my wallet, when third parties deliver the kind of games I want to play, I'll pay them for it.
