An as an atheist what would your thoughts be if tomorrow, Gods existence was proven to an absolute, irrefutable scientific fact and only that, nothing changes, e are still in the dark not knowing intention or lack of...and somehow you were the only one outside of academia told and shown proof, would you still believe a lack of God? Would you wish God had created an afterlife? Would you change anything about your character? Would you feel disturbed or relieved or horrified? I'm curious here, please share.

If there was a god like that, it would be much different from the God that most people believe in, as it wouldn't be a personal god or one with consciousness/feelings like the Abrahamic religions. I would go on living pretty much exactly the same way.

If we base our morality on the bible or other ancient books, most people would probably be stoned to death. Non-believers would be beheaded. Women who tell a man what to do would be slapped. Gays, transgenders and jews would be killed. But we have changed our morality and culture drastically in only a few ages. This means to me we don't need God or ancient books to define our morality. Thus God doesn't exist.

Was raised Catholic also but never was a true believer made it to first communion but skipped confirmation stopped going to church in my early teens. The only people in my immediate family that I would consider deeply religious where my maternal grandmother and her sister that was a nun.

Morality exists in every species. It plays a big part in our survival and at that point it is considered objective. Male lions may kill the babies of another male lion and then mate with the mother. Doesn't mean this is the case with every animal species. Some animals are more or less agressive than others. Even among very closely related animal species there may be a huge difference in morality and their culture. Morality is also relative and is still changing in humans and differs between different human populations. During the roman civilization, men having sex with men was normal. Then it became a sin, now it is accepted again.

If we base our morality on the bible or other ancient books, most people would probably be stoned to death. Non-believers would be beheaded. Women who tell a man what to do would be slapped. Gays, transgenders and jews would be killed.

Plus most Christians are mayor hypocrites they pretty much don't obey most of the rules that are in the Old Testamant and a lot of the ones in the New Testament also.
