Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will there be a market for a N64 mini next year?

SNES and N64 minis are an absolute dream

These legacy/tribute consoles. Does anybody think this could harm the virtual console. I mean the silence on virtual console for Switch is deafening, I'm really hoping for GameCube titles.

I can see Nintendo either not producing a Classic Mini next year, or doing another run of both NES and SNES Minis.

I think the next new Mini we're getting will be a GameBoy Classic Mini in 2019, to celebrate 30 years of the GameBoy. Maybe they'll do different styles, and include a selection of GB and GBC games, with different screen-modes to choose from (colour, backlit, original green tint).

N64 mini without Rareware games. Eww. Maybe if they include Mishief Makers and Sin & Punishment.

It's too early, it needs generational hype (age 25-30 years) to print money. It's the same with everything (cartoon series, super heroes, ...), it gets a comeback when the once hyped generation is ready for the next hype. (some cartoons from the 60s/early 70s are the perfect example: revive in the 90s, revive now)
What about the controller? Sticks get worn out today as well. In fact, my very first N64 controller still works better than my first X360 controller after pretty much equal number of hours played and even excessive Mario Party 1. The problem isn't the controller, it's the kids from the 90s who couldn't handle a controller properly.
And lol + wtf @ people (gamers) still not knowing that the N64 controller had the perfect idea with its 3 handles. If you still think you need to grab them all in a game, why do you consider yourself a gamer at all?

I can see it happening, not sure if it will launch next year though

^ I could see something like this on a N64 mini.
Just not sure its enough.

007: golden eye :O

They will strike a deal with MS for GoldenEye 007 at least IMO. Two companies are more friendly with each other these days thanks to Minecraft.

Super Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, Zelda: OoT, Zelda: MM, Paper Mario, Mario Kart 64, Wave Race 64, GoldenEye 007, Donkey Kong 64, Star Fox 64, Pokemon Snap!, F-Zero X, DOOM 64, Snowboard Kids, Ogre Battle 64, ExciteBike 64, Turok or Bomberman 64.

Even though the N64 didn't have as much third party stuff there's still plenty of games to offer.

That'd be cool, but with the situation with GoldenEye and the Rare games, it'd be much harder to have a selection without glaring omissions.
