I'm hoping one day Square-Enix will get their heads out of their ass' and give us a real single player Final Fantasy.

No can do. I like getting high quality updates that is jam packed with new content every 2 months.

Me too, don't like paying to keep playing it.
Anyway, do you also have to buy the expansions ( Heavensward/Stormblood) to have access to the content, still paying the sub?

Yes you have to buy the expansions. The subscription pays for the services such as, maintenance, and patches that continues the main scenario.

 

The amount of content and music this game has is record breaking.

Well, to each his own, I enjoyed FF XIII and got more than 150 hours on FF XV already (and I don´t even finish it) , guess MMO's are not my cup anyway ;P
Saying that, nothing tops Final Fantasy VI, on Final series and in general for me,just my best game of all time. -Yet,cuz the best is yet to come, said my favorite tune of MGS saga :) -

It's that or it'll be like another one of those f2p mmo with laggy servers, balance issues, and hardly any content updates.

 

You can at anytime stop your subscription when you've burn through all the contents, and then come back when there is new ones.
