Forums - Sales Discussion - Can the Switch catch back up to the PS4 or did Nintendo kill the hype?

Well...considering there's only 2 new big AAA games on the system, and 1 AAA port I'd say the hype is dying a bit. Couple that with the stock issues and it's amazing that Switch is hitting those numbers to begin with. Switch will be fine, I'm not worried the slightest bit.

Ninten.......doom?

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Well, it's hard to say catch back up, because long term its sales were never as high as the PS4, and it's much too soon to accurately compare the two consoles. However, I predict that the PS4 will come out on top.

I dunno if it will do as well as the PS4, but I think it could still do very well. The system's just getting started.

I'd rather be playing Metroid Prime

Too early to tell if it will catch up, but I'm with Bristow... I think from Splatoon 2 onwards (bigger shipments) we will start seeing a fight for the 1st place again.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

The shortages that Nintendo constantly has is only hurting them.  This can't continue to be an excuse.

Excuse for what?

Is the hype too low now to catch back up in the monthly sales numbers?

How are we measuring hype to begin with?

The hype hasn't been killed.

this thread makes no sense, you acknowledge that supply issues exist then proceed to imply that the drop in weekly sales is due to lack of hype.

Yeah this thread completely contradicts itself.

It will never ever catch up to the PS4 even if supply is abundant. And it will need lots of price cuts and revisions to pass the 3DS.
