UltimateUnknown disagree's with you.  Also see the quotes by polygon & IGN.

I havnt even played the demo of this, but I could tell from the videos back then, that it was too changed.

Imo you shouldnt take what people love about a game series and then just throw it out the window, thats a good way to get people angry with you.

Even god of war, haveing more "narrative" doesnt mean they throw everything else that was god of war out, they added instead of subtracting

This is stupidity for sake of whining.

There is Mario then  Mario Kart

Pokemon then there is Pokken

There is Phantasy Star then Phantasy Star Online

Valkyria Chronicles the Valkyria Revolution.

We had a whole entire announcement article in which it was openly stated the Revolution is a spinoff/splinter series to Valkyria Chronicles and both would have no bearing on each other. If UltimateUnknown's disappointed steams from being Chronicles, which we were told, that's his problem. The point of a spin off series IS to be different from the main series. Revolution's direction sucks. It could have been an awesome series.

Use your head.

Maybe I didn't word my comment correctly, but I have no issue with them making a spin off Valkyria series. In fact I was happy to try out an action RPG from that team as I'm all for developers trying out new things and getting their creative juices flowing. But the problem here is that the gameplay is just straight up bland and boring, as I mentioned before.

This is only compounded by the fact that it's been over 6 years (even more if you consider only the west where VC3 wasn't localised) that a mainline VC game came out. So a lot of people will naturally criticise the new game even more as the resource put behind it could have gone into a VC sequel. Again, this could have been circumvented had VR been a good game, but since it's not, the studio's going to receive a ton of criticism (and rightfully so) for creating a bad spinoff when they could have given a lot of their fans what they wanted.

Its not stupid. I'm already said this this dumb direction. Its ridiculous to be complaining about it not being something else when its was openly announced that way. We knew knew from the gitty up that it was not going to be a Strategy game. So why still hold accoutable for not being what it said it wasnt. If I tell you there is a sandwich in your lunchbox, are you going to expect a Pizza?

Well, no. But knowing there's a sandwich in there beforehand still isn't going to completely get rid of the disappointment of it just being a sandwich.

The same is true for this game. Sure it would have been more disappointing if it had promised to be like the original games and then deviated massively anyway. But knowing beforehand doesn't change the fact that people will be thinking about what could have been instead.

But there must come a time where you have to except that it is sandwich. Opening the lunchbox after knowing should not be a OMG moment. The game should be judged for what it is. Revolution could have been amazing, but it wouldn't have stopped the butthurt.

Im one of those guys that Hate that they dont keep Paper Mario, as a pure RPG too.

Super Paper Mario being a side scroller.... why? then sticker star? where is my paper mario nintendo? then they release Colour Splash,... another sticker star clone.

meanwhile...  the "last" proper Paper Mario game was from 2004.

13 years is along time to wait for a proper game, in a series you enjoy.

The cake sandwich is a lie! we need a real paper mario :P

I think the next paper mario will be a real one, Nintendo saw how people reacted to getting federation force.

Now theres metroid games comeing, same is hopefully happending to paper mario, and we ll get a new TTYD like game.

Most of the review scores seem to be inline with what I thought of the game. The game is pretty ok, but it misses the mark in many ways, specially if it's holding onto the Valkyria banner.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Sega is just stupid.

Instead of making a crap game like this, it would have been WAY BETTER to just remake/remaster Valkyria chronicles 3.
It's the best VC, but it's the only one who was never released outside japan. What a waste.

And nobody is surprised. They could've made a Resonance of Fate Sequel which would've gotten at least 65 but they chose to do this one.
