Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What is Nintendo doing?

NES CLASSIC discontinued despite selling hundreds of thousands of units..... now they announce a SNES mini with less games.... and a higher price....

nintendo can't even make the Nintendo switch .... and they are diverting resources to another system....

Making

2ds

2ds xl(new)

3ds

3ds xl

snes mini

heck they are pushing the 2dsxl and 3ds harder than the switch.....

there is virtually no promo for snes or nes games on switch..... that would push so many units, a portable snes.... with nexgen games.... there is no virtual console....

With the little parts they have to make gaming units.....

what are they doing? How is this even a good idea? The Nintendo switch is struggling... falling under ps4 and soon x one sales since it hasn't been in stock on amazon and others for over a month......

The SNES mini probably costs them like 20$ to make.
If they can sell a few million at 80$....... thats not a bad idea.

No virtual console on the switch? meh,... doubt SNES sales are that big anyways.
To profit off of games that are like 20-30 years old is a great idea.

Also the SNES mini probably doesnt use any parts, the Switch does.
So its not nessarily hurting switch production.

Struggling? They cant supply them fast enough, its a smashing success.

A 10 year old could make a super nes mini with on online tutorial. They will make a quick buck and discontinue it.

Apple is the reason Switch is hard to make, they're fighting for different parts. I doubt SNES mini includes any of the parts Apple needs and is a complete seperate factory making the SNES MINIS

Wait, let me get this straight... So, it's your belief that the parts going into the SNES mini are the highly sought after parts, also being purchased by Apple, that Nintendo is short on for pumping out more Switch's?

The PS4 out for over 4 years is outselling the switch by a significant margin....

UR telling me the 2ds xl and snes mini are using nothing from the switch? They couldn't even make the nes classic without having issues selling it.... the Wii was the last thing they made where it sold out non stop while having millions available to purchase every month for a while...

The SNES mini certainly made me raise my eyebrow as well...

I'm going to let Nintendo worry about Nintendo and trust this SNES mini won't get in the way of Switch production.

leo-j, really? Do you honestly believe the trite you type?

ffs leo-j, think with your brain. The console is heavily supply-constrained and PS4 is being adjusted by VGC because of undertracking. And it's common knowledge that most console have their peak year within the third year of their release. Give it a chance!
