It baffles me to this day how hideous the NA model of the SNES looks, especially when the JP/PAL version looks so sleek and robust.

Yes! Lucky us!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Nintendo could have 2 consoles outsell the WiiU this year.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Ugh... Nintendo, why not just put these games on Switch VC. I want to play some of them, but I'm probably not going to be able to secure a pre-order

It turns out that Amazon UK is getting massive pre orders from the US for the EU edition of this as the US Snes is ugly as hell compared to the EU version. I never realised they were different till seeing the pictures when I read the news article on this a few mins ago. I've got to agree, the EU snes looks so much nicer than the US one.

Hope?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It looks like Amazon has a listing for it...though it's currently unavailable. Hopefully because they're getting ready and not that it already sold out.

I signed up for email alerts...but I'm in an all-day meeting so I might miss it. Fffffff.

21 games for $80? But why? The SNES has to be the best Nintendo system to date in terms of both first and third party support, easily they could've crammed in 50, and if they sold that for $80, this would be an instant success.

Oh, Nintendo :|
Battletoads, Breath Of Fire, Chrono Trigger, DKC2, Final Fight, Killer Instinct, Harvest Moon, Mortal Kombat (2 or 3), Super Double Dragon could've made this 30 games and much better! Of course there would be more games I'd want, but these games could have realistically been there! It's too bad it's mostly just Nintendo first party and is so expensive at that compared to SEGA's Genesis classic (?) which also has 80 games. Nintendo can only get away with this because they're in a much better business position in the industry compared to SEGA.

I mean, it would be great but the licensing these 3rd party games would cost way too much for Ninty in the end(that's probably why we didn't get Chrono Trigger btw), but the librairy is still way more robbust than the NES imo. + we get one unreleased game !

Ok, if licensing issues are such a big deal that they can't get more than 21, then this system should still not be as expensive as it is. $80? My ass. It's like Nintendo forgot about piracy, even though they had taken down a lot of ROMs recently.

Not that I know of yet.  I am just sitting here awaiting my amazon alert...

The reason the console is $80...

-2 controllers

-Starfox 2 (retail release)

-some games still expensive in digital form (Secret of Mana $8, Final Fantasy III $15, etc.)

-licenses for the third party games

If Nintendo and other game developers all had big dedicated teams just for piracy the file being distributed would be tried to get taken down as often as possible or those sites get a DMCA letter if located in the US. Nintendo isn't factoring piracy into the price of the SNES Classic because they know they cannot completely contain it and piracy shouldn't factor into prices, along with many people still want stuff to be legit and authentic.
